Parkside at Ashburn is a Townhouse community that is condo ownership....which means the exterior maintenance and the lawn care are all taken care of by the condo association.  The fees are a little more expensive, but if you don't want to bother with lawn care or exterior painting, this is right up your alley.  There are currently 6 towhome condos on the market in the Parkside at Ashburn, ranging in price from $210 - $269K, they have 1 and 2 car garage townhomes that are very affordable. 3 Reasons Why Right Now Is An Awesome Time To Buy- original post When is the best time to buy? You buy a car at the end of the year. You shop for clothes at the end of the season. And you buy a house when the market is down.   Here are 3 reasons why RIGHT NOW is an incredible time for first time buyers to buy.... 1.    Interest Rates Are Low. For the past few years we have been spoiled by low interest rates in the 5's or 6's.  If you believe that this is normal, it is important that you realize that an average rate is much higher so don't be upset if they shoot up by over a percent at any moment. 2.  Buyer Assistance Programs. On October 1st down payment assistance programs such as Nehemiah and Ameridream which allow the seller of a home to pay the 3% down requirement for a home will be...

We invite people into our homes and most are honest and hard-working.  Once in awhile we run across someone who is less than honest or good. Please remember that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.  If you were a client of this cleaning lady and believe you may have been a victim please read. Mirian Martinez, of Mirian Cleaning Services. as been accused of stealing thousands of dollars in jewelery from a home she cleaned.  She was charged August 5th in Loudoun County with grand larceny, obtaining money by false pretenses and larceny with intent to sell/distribute. There is an ongoing  joint investigation between several law enforcement agencies in our area.  Ms. Martinez allegedly  removed several pieces of jewelry from a home on Gazelle Court in South Riding, VA.   She has been e...

Last night we had dinner with one of our old neighbors in Ashburn, VA.  It has been eight years since our move to the Waterford area.  The lifestyles are so different and I do love them both.   My heart aches for the closeness we shared when we lived on Brownstone Court.  Of course, it was our first real home.   We looked across our backyard to our neighbors and many times ask them  to walk on over and  join us for a glass of wine or a cup of coffee after our family dinner was over.  We would sit outside chatting about our week for a few hours and then we would simply walk back to our respective homes. Even though we were on about 1/3 of an acre, our property seemed much larger.  Our backyards were deep and filled with large maple and pine trees.  None of the three properties that borde...

Looking for fresh produce?? Ashburn has finally gotten a farmers market.  You'll find it in the parking lot of the Kaiser Permanente building right behind the Ryan Park Shopping Center.  It runs every Saturday from 8am to 12pm through October 25th.  And it's not the farmers markets of old.  While strolling through yesterday, I saw butchers, bakers and winemakers too.                          Baker Farms sells just pork.  Stop by and ask Mr. Baker...he'll tell you all about the differences between fresh off of the farm and store bought.  Millcreek Farm was there too.  They sell beef, lamb, chevon(goat) and eggs. Two local wineries were there too-Corcoran Vineyards and Fabbioli Cellars.  If you're so inclined, you can sample the wines.  When you visit the Fabbioli tent, make sure to try ...

Alright, I have seen it all now. I was driving home on Route 7 from Sterling to Ashburn, Virginia and stopped at a stoplight near the George Washington University Campus in Ashburn. I noticed the car in front of me looking to their left and pointing so I looked over. There was a small bear about 3' tall on the side of the road that looked like it was going to cross the road. Luckily it didn't because cars were coming the other direction. Instead, it turned around and crawled through the fence and into the woods like a small child. I couldn't believe it. I have seen a lot of things on Route 7 like deer, fox and other small animals but never ever a bear. I have even been to Yellowstone Park and never saw a real bear. I called the police because I wasn't sure what to do and told them I was...

Ashburn Rentals Are Going Nuts!- Original Post I have never seen the intensity of people looking for rentals like I am seeing right now!   Seriously.  I have a house for rent and I can't keep up with all of the people wanting to see it.  Last week I rented out 2 houses!  Most agents don't mess around with rentals because there is barely any money in it.  However, I have a handful of people that I have sold homes to who started out as renters so it is hard for me to pass up a good opportunity.  I guess I am an unconventional Realtor.  Any way...  Check out these stats for Ashburn. You have sucked it up, bitten the bullet, and it looks like you are heading down the dreaded route that you never thought you of all people could end up on.  I looks like you are loosing your home.  Well, lets make this as painless as possible and hopefully save your credit score as much as possible in the end.  Here are a Short Sale tips that will help:   1.  Don't Be A Loner-   I promise that this is not a ploy for you to call me but you will need a Realtor on this trip.  It is long, complicated, and you need a guide.  One of the major hurdles with the bank is showing sufficient marketing to sell the home.  You don't have time for this one and it you won't be paying the Realtor if it goes through any way- the bank will.  2.  Make A File-  If the banks has begun the foreclosure process...
