At Alamo Infrared we strongly believe in "giving it back - paying it forward". We had the pleasure of performing an energy audit in Moab for the Youth Garden Project at no charge. The YGP is a wonderful organization that cultivates healthy children, families and communities through educational programs and the profound act of connecting people with food from seed to table. We continue to offer free energy audits at no charge to nonprofit 501c organizations and charitable organizations throughout the fall and winter seasons. These are limited and on a first come basis.   Speechless Sunday - One of a Kind Jeep   Here's another very interesting sculpture we came across at The Hole In The Rock in Moab, Utah. It almost seems like a prop out of a cartoon as it reminds me a little of Fred Flintstone's car for some reason. The body is made entirely of license plates, the tires, seats, etc. of tools, scrap metals and "parts".

Wordless Wednesday - A Lotta Bull   This is a most interesting sculpture we came across when visiting the Hole In The Rock near Moab, Utah last week. It's made entirely of rusted tools, scrap metal and "parts", fit seemlessly together to make a rather impressive bull. I don't know the artist's name, but would love to see more of his/her work.

Speechless Sunday - Sunday In The Desert - Lots of Arches   As the boys and I continue our vacation in Moab, Utah, we spent the day further exploring Arches National Park. Today we hit North Window Arch, South Window Arch, Turret Arch and my very favorite, the Double Arch. We were able to visit all four with only about two miles worth of hiking. What an amazing natural phenomenom!

Blogging From The Road - The Hole In The Rock, Moab, Utah   This is a piece of Americana that's just too charming to pass up. Back in the 1940s, Albert Christensen began carving out a piece of massive red stone in the Utah desert. It eventually became a roadside diner, mostly catering to miners in the area. Later he and his wife, Gladys, excavated 5,000 square feet into the rock, creating their expansive home which included 14 rooms around massive pillars and even included a fireplace and chimney. Albert died in 1957 with the home not yet completed. Gladys finished it in his memory and then supported herself by making jewelry which she sold in the gift shop. Gladys passed away in 1974 and was buried beside Albert in a special alcove carved into the rock behind their home. Now days the...

Blogging From The Road - The Delicate Arch, Arches National Park, Moab   Continuing our vacation in Moab, Utah, our boys and I hiked to the Delicate Arch in Moab, Utah Wednesday morning. We left at 6 am in an attempt to avoid the 100+ degree day time temps. It worked, as it was barely 90 when we finished. The hike is over three miles and part of that is up pretty step rock and sandstone. But it was worth the trip. The Delicate Arch has stood as sort of a symbol of the state of Utah, even gracing the state's license plates, and is such a unique natural, geological phenomenon. We have explored other arches at the park on previous vacations but this is the first time we went all the way to this one. This is Sam and Ben under the arch...

Friday's Foto - Red Rocks By Sunrise   Tuesday morning, we set off to hike to the Delicate Arch in Arches National Park in Moab, Utah at 6 a.m. in an attempt to beat the day's heat. The early start allowed us a different view of the red rocks on the way in, as the rising sun turned the rocks even redder than usual. If you don't normally read my blog, we're currently vacationing in Utah, but live and work in Oregon.

Speechless Sunday - Chilling in the Desert   Our boys and I (Gretchen) are in Moab, Utah visiting my parents for a couple weeks. This is Ben and Sam relaxing in Nana and Papa's hot tub (which wasn't so hot) after a long day in the desert. We were surprised a little later on by am impromptu fireworks display just up the hill from us, which my camera didn't capture so well. I love that you can see some of the red mountains of Moab behind my parents' yard.

I had the chance to spend 3 days in one of the most Beautiful Parks in the United States … “Arches National Park” in Utah. For anyone that has been to “Arches National Park” you will be able to relate to this short video of (Landscape Arch). And for anyone that has not been to “Arches National Park” I would suggest that you put this Park in your “Bucket List”. I have been able to visit most of the Parks in the Southwest and this park is by far one of the most impressive Parks I have ever seen. The three days I spent in “Arches National Park” I photographed with two cameras with different lens and a large video camera. For anyone that doesn’t hike very much you may need to do some walking and or hiking before you venture into “Arches National Park” because many of the Arches are not rig...

"Canyonlands National Park" Utah - Photograph taken by Robert Swetz - 2-24-2011   I have been to the Grand Canyon many times in my life and it is very beautiful, but there is always way to many people there. Tour buses from Las Vegas and so many cars that I really don't go there anymore because it's just to busy. I have been at Arches National Park in Utah for two days now hiking and taking photographs & videos. There are around 3 major parks within minutes of Arches National Park and one of them is "Canyonlands National Park" (photo above). There were no people there so I could take my time shooting photos & video and it looks just like the Grand Canyon. And why does it look so much like the Grand Canyon? Because the Colorado River runs through Canyonlands just like the Grand Canyon. ...
