In the Cedar City Real Estate Market, Willow Wood is another really nice subdivision of mostly starter to move up homes.  It was built in the early to mid 1990's and is North of Canyon View High School.  It is mostly ranch style homes with basements, although there are a few two story homes.  It is also a nice quiet, most of Cedar City is quiet, it is one of our selling points!  The yards are mainly .20 of an acre. The Cedar City Real Estate Market has several homes in Cedar City that were built in the 1980′s, one of these is the Bramblewood Subdvision.  Bramblewood is located at the Northern end of Cedar City, near Interstate 15.  Bramblewood like many of our subdivisions, in that it has duplex styled “twin homes” as well as detached single family homes.  These have been popular with first time buyers and the twin homes have also been popular with investors. About the only Newspaper that I read is the local weekly.  Why do I read it, because the stories inside affect me and my home.  I find out things about the community that I may have missed in my day to day life.  I also get to keep up with who is getting married, who has done what and well, you get it.  Today, I learned that Southern Utah University is getting a Natural History Museum. The Garth & Jerri Frehner Museum is in the Science Building at Southern Utah University.  It will have it’s Grand Opening on May 5th. The museum has been set up so that there are activities for smaller children in order to keep them interested in the museum.  There are full sized animals on display. I have been praising the local businesses which have been assisting with our local Relay for Life in the fight against cancer.  This week it is Chili’s who is stepping up and assisting.  On Thursday, April 12, from 11 AM to 10 PM, Chili’s will donate 15% of the proceeds to Relay for Life.  I really do appreciate it when businesses, even chain type businesses, realize that they are part of a community and gets involved in great causes!  To me, it is really what makes a community into a desirable place to live.  This is an important cause, so if you’re hungry for some food at Chili’s go on over and  enjoy some good food and a good time.  There is one catch you need to get a coupon from a supporting location, like say, RE/Max Velocity.  While you’re here, we have some great deals on some g...

The Cedar City Music Arts season is concluding with the finale concert tomorrow, Wednesday evening.  This concert will feature the quartet New York Polyphony.  They are a classical quartet, meaning that Classical Music is at the heart of their reperotoie, they sing music from other periods as well. New York Polyphony has received critical acclaim and is really a big deal to end the concert season here in Cedar City.  For ticket information contact the Heritage Center Box Office at 435-865-2882.  Tickets are $30 for adults at $15 for students.  This should be a great opportunity to see New York Polyphony! The Cedar City Real Estate Market has several subdivisions with fewer than 25 homes.  The North Field Addition Subdivision is one of those great smaller subdivisions.  It was mostly built out in 2002, and is what I would call an upper starter home type of subdivision. The homes are slightly larger than most starter homes, but they sort of fall in between the size of homes that you would call the “move up” homes.  The Homes are between 2200 and 2600 square feet.  The lots are typically .22 to .25 acres.  The North Field Addition subdivision is in Cedar City limits and is on the Northern edge of the city.  It is a quiet, stable subdivision.  There are currently 2 homes listed for Sale in the Multiple Listing Service.  One is listed at $129,900 and the other is listed at $165,000.  In the ...

Occasionally something comes up that is so important, that even when the subject matter is deplorable, you still have to bring it to people's attention.  This is one such subject, Human Trafficking.  This is something that I was aware of, but I had no idea how broad and far reaching the problem is. One of the Great Subdivisions in the Cedar City Real Estate Market is Fiddlers Canyon.  It is a large subdivision built in 9 phases at the Northeast part of Cedar City.  It borders the Ashdown Forest Subdivision.  Fiddlers Canyon mainly consists of move up style homes, but there are some custom homes, there are also some customized tract type homes.  I should add that there are some twin homes as well, but it is mostly a “move up” subdivision. One of the great things to see in any community is how the community supports important causes.  It is heartening to witness the outpouring from the community over the Relay for Life.  The goal of Relay for Life is to raise funds to help eradicate cancer.  I wrote a post the other day about Sonny Boy’s Barbecue jumping right into this great cause.  I am happy to say that they aren’t the only business to jump right in and help.  On Saturday April 7th you can throw a strike at cancer at the Cedar Bowling Center, 421 East Old Highway 91, Cedar City.  From 11 AM to 5 PM you can bowl for $9.99 per person, half of the proceeds will go to the Relay for Life.  What a great Saturday activity for the entire family; and you will be helping a great cause!  So bring your family and friends and throw...

Sonny Boy’s Barbecue located at 126 North Main Street in Cedar City (http://www.sonnyboysbbq.com) is getting involved in a wonderful cause.  On April 5th, from 5 to 7 PM, Sony Boy’s will donate 10% of all of their proceeds during those two hours to our local Relay for Life.  This is the main event in the Cedar City area to raise money for the cure for Cancer.  Sonny Boy’s was one of my favorite places to eat before I learned that they were willing to assist in this great cause. In the Cedar City Real Estate Market, Ashdown Forest is another newer subdivision in Cedar City.  It is mostly custom, high end homes.  It is a PUD so there are HOA fees associated with it.  It was built mostly in 2005, there are still several choice building lots available to build your own custom home. As I said, it is in city limits and is located at the North East side of Cedar City.  Homes in Ashdown Forest range in square footage from 1500 to some that are around 5000 square feet.  It is also located on the hill side, with some great views. The Cedar City Real Estate Market doesn’t have a lot of gated communities.  In fact Legacy Estates is our first and currently, only gated community in Cedar City.  This is a subdivision of Mansions.  It is a small subdivision in number, but not in size of the homes.  The entire subdivision is not gated, just the select mansions inside of it.  The subdivision its self is still comprised of custom or executive size and style homes.  This is an exclusive subdivisions  These homes don’t come up for sale very often. In The Cedar City Real Estate Market there are several nice subdivisions that are just outside of Cedar City limits.  Buena Vista is one of the mature subdivisions in our market.  It is on the West side of Cedar City just off of Highway 56.  This is also a mixed subdivision of sorts, there are stick built homes as well as manufactured homes. The lots are large from .5 acres to an acre.  Buena Vista was built over a number of years.  Because of the lot size there are many homes that have large enough lots to have horses on them.  It has nice, mature trees and is a nice subdivision.  It is still not on the sewer, so the homes all have septic tanks. The Cedar City Real Estate Market has several great subdivisions that were built around 2000 to 2005, Equestrian Pointe is one of those great subdivisions.  This subdivision is in the Cedar City limits and there are still some lots available to build on.  Equestrian Pointe is an expansive subdivision that offers something for all types of buyers. The Cedar City Real Estate Market has some subdivisions that were hit hard by the economic Downturn.  The Parks at Deer Hollow is one of them.  It is a subdivision with some outstanding potential in a nice setting.  The Parks at Deer Hollow is adjacent to the new Iron Springs Elementary School in Enoch.  It is a subdivision with just a few homes that have been built.
