I am not sure what your New Year’s Eve activities are, but if you’re in the Brian Head or Cedar City area, you may wish to head up to Brian Head.  They are hosting fireworks, a party and one of the more interesting aspects, the Torch Parade.  Skiers ski down the mountain holding torches.  I will be honest, we almost always go to Northern Utah to spend time with my siblings for a belated Christmas celebration and get together.  This year is no exception, so we are going to miss the parade.  The photos that I have seen of this event are amazing. There are lines of lighted torches coming down the mountain long after the sun has set.  It really looks cool in photos!  This is something that they do every year, so maybe next year we will be able to attend!  It should be noted here as well, th...

I am surprised to say that it is that time of year again.  Brian Head Ski Resort opens for the Season today!  It seems a little early, but I am sure that the avid skiers and snow boarders have been waiting for to them what seems like an eternity to hit the slopes.  That day is here and there is even a chance that the resort will receive some fresh powder this weekend. I have never been much of a skier, but I hear that is a good thing when you have fresh powder.  For information on pricing and times contact: www.BrianHead.com Brian Head last Ski Season

I wrote a post about why it is that we love living in Cedar City.  It had a lot of mountain pictures that were taken in the late Summer.  One of the good things about Cedar City is that we have all 4 Seasons, not only that but we have a great Ski Resort less than an hour away! (Depending on Road Conditions)  Brian Head, I have blogged about it before, is a great Resort for both Summer and Winter activities. We like the fact that we have all of the Seasons, it is something that adds to the lifestyle that we enjoy here.  It is something that a person or a family looking to buy a house should know.  Brian Head draws skiers all the way from Southern California to ski it's beautiful slopes.  So if you're into the Winter activities like Skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowshoeing, cross coutry ...

Darcy and I were up in Brian Head last Thursday.  We took some great photos of a really nice cabin as well as some other interesting things to use for blog posts.  It is that time of year, and last week Brian Head had a base depth of 85 inches of snow.  There have been a couple of small storms come through, but I don't have an updated snow total. For those of us who don't ski, tubing may fit the bill.  As you can see from this photo, you can do both at Brian Head! It was a gorgeous day on the slopes, so come up and enjoy!

Here in Utah, Thanksgiving Weekend is the kick off for the Ski Season.  Brian Head is no different, it already has one run open, is making snow on another run and expecting a storm of estimates of 1 to 2 feet of fresh powder tonight and tomorrow.  All of this means that Brian Head is poised to have a great opening weekend, provided the storm clears out enough to get there!  I will be honest, I am not a skier, never have been, but it does look like the skiers and snowboarders were having a good time this afternoon. Here are some photos: Skiers and Snowboarder enjoying some early season snow! Another Shot of the Chair lift and skiers. Brian Head is only around 30 miles from Cedar City, it is close enough for a day trip!

Darcy and I spent this morning in Brian Head, Utah.  We have recently listed a couple of Condos up there, and we needed to get some photos for the listings.  We also took a couple of BPO's up there to do while we were up there.  We shot this photo, I use the term we pretty freely, Darcy took the photo.  It is such a beautiful day up there today, temps in the low 60's blue skies. The photo doesn't really do it justice.  We initially looking at the view called it the Million Dollar View, but other than the bark beetle killed trees, it is very beautiful.

Today Darcy and I had to go to Brian Head to photograph a condo that we are listing.  The first thing that popped out at us was that it is a gorgeous day.  It was in the 60's even at the Ski Resort, people were out enjoying the slopes.  On days like today, I wish that my knees would allow me to learn to ski!   "Here comes the sunHere comes the sun, and I sayIt's alright" George Harrison really had it right when he penned these immortal lyrics that the Beatles recorded!   A shot of the ski slope with the blue sky in the background and a light fluffy cloud! A Shot of the surrounding area! One more shot of the area with the brilliant blue sky!

Brian Head is a wonderful ski resort, I know that it sounds odd for a Native Utahn, but I have never skied.  I injured my knees playing football when I was young, and to be honest, never had the desire to attempt skiing. Brian Head offers year round recreational opportunities.  This is a view of the sloped during the summertime when everything is beautiful and green.

These are some of the beautiful fall colors that Darcy and I are forced to to live with!  Note the heavy sarcasm, please!  I wish that we had a telephoto lens for our Nikon digital camera.  Maybe the next commission check!  It is a gorgeous Saturday afternoon here, I hope that the colors come through!  These were taken between Brian Head and Cedar Breaks National Monument. Unfortunately you can see the dead trees from the beetles! One More   Again, you can see the devastation from the bark beetles!
