Homage to My Passage One thing often overlooked in life is utilizing The Golden Rule.  An unbreakable truth taught me that people will treat you however you let them. From the time I was 10-years old, mowing lawns, I realized the value of hard work.  I never stopped making a living, through honest means. One boss ruled by rage, screaming at anyone in range to get attention and feel powerful. Years later, I learned he was deep into steroids; the outbursts suddenly made sense. Another couple hovered over my shoulder while designing marketing and advertising materials, to ensure they hired the 'right fit'. When refusing to pay overtime for calculated hours, the U.S. Department of Labor settled that. Then, came the broker, intent on me 'tweaking' another artist's logo for his supposed 'drea...

Grow Through What You Go Through  Meaningful results matter, whether it’s a bountiful harvest or a profitable quarter. That comes from being present, following through consistently, staying dedicated when tedious and applying common sense with every step. Success is built on practical knowledge, sound judgment and the quiet discipline to troubleshoot when things go wrong and continue moving forward. Whether growing a garden or a company, both need reliable systems. Be prepared to act and rely on tried and true methods. Follow through, use facts over feelings and keep it straightforward. Though challenges will present along the way, they're normal, panic is an option but not recommended. Practice consistency in everything as you grow through what you go through. Happy Sunday all!

Don't Go COLD TURKEY! It's never too late to share reliable, SAFETY NEWS. Thanksgiving is here, some cooks are preparing to submerge a 15-pound bird into a pot of boiling oil. Before turning the backyard into a cooking show, complete with a gawking audience or committing to a crime scene, here are a few friendly reminders:• Keep the fryer outside. - Keep out of the garage or on the deck and  definitely not in the living room, “just for a second.”• Thaw the turkey completely. A frozen turkey hitting hot oil reacts like you just dropped Mentos in Diet Coke.• Check your oil level. Too much oil = a flaming oil volcano no one asked for.• Stay with the fryer. Deep-frying is not a “set it and forget it” situation.• Have a DRY-chemical extinguisher ready. Water + hot oil = emergency services ar...

Beware of Snark Bites During the Holidays! Special moments spent together, warms the heart by recalling holidays past and creating new memories with the most important people in life. And then there's the Snarks, who stealthily infiltrate the crowd by ratcheting up emotions, maximizing chaos or promoting awkward silences among guests. Don't bite back, unless it's to take part in the decadent feast laid out on the holiday table for everyone's gastric pleasure! Snarks come in many forms, from young to old. These people are unable to carry on a polite conversation, no matter the subject. Even innocent questions take on an ominous tone as they fire off answers like a colorful, well-honed, never-ending, holiday fireworks display. For example...  Sulky, college students can be obnoxious, look...

2025: A Year of Reflection This year has brought many challenges, both personally and in my professional business but overcoming makes the journey possible through growth. That's where resilience chooses to keep going when everything else says to stop. Tenacity is refusing to let contrived or unfortunate circumstances write my story. Adapting, learning has grown a stronger version of a past self. This year’s triumphs didn’t happen despite the struggle, they happened because of it. People tend to drift apart unless one or the other is willing to throw a lifeline with a phone call, text message or through email. Sometimes the breach widens as the other side decides to increase the distance between parties. Here are 5 examples of one-sided relationships:1. You’re always the initiator, they...

A Journey Through Zion, Bryce, Arches, Canyonlands, and Capitol Reef   Summary   This blog highlights Utah’s Mighty 5 national parks—Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, and Capitol Reef—exploring their unique landscapes and why they’re must-see destinations.   Introduction: Why Utah’s Parks Steal the Show When someone says “Utah,” what pops into your head? For me, it used to be skiing, salt flats, or maybe the Jazz basketball team. But after a recent Zoom presentation, I realized Utah is home to something far more jaw-dropping—the Mighty 5 national parks. These aren’t just ordinary parks; they’re geological masterpieces carved by time, wind, and water. And honestly, once you learn about them, you’ll want to pack your hiking boots immediately.    Zion National Park: Red Rock Majesty...

A First Class Riddle A blonde real estate agent and a lawyer are seated next to each other on a flight from LA to NY. The lawyer asks if she wants to play a fun game. The tired blonde just wants to nap, so she politely declines and turns to the window. The lawyer persists: “It’s simple. I ask you a question, if you don’t know the answer, you pay me $5. If I don’t know yours, I’ll pay you $500.” That gets her attention! She agrees. Lawyer says: “What’s the distance from Earth to the moon?” The blonde silently pulls out $5 out of her purse and hands it over. Now her turn: “What goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?”  The lawyer is stumped. He fires up his laptop, searches the web, emails, colleagues...nothing. After an hour, he wakes her and hands over $500. The blonde ...

Key-Per of the Castle: A Soggy Bottom Story  A wintry, southern Utah day found me removing a sign from the cold, hard ground after closing/recording. Suddenly, with dread, it hits me the only key in my possession, that was once in my hand, was now missing! It began to sprinkle. The key wasn’t on a ring or clipped to anything, just swallowed up by the lawn. The buyers were out of the area, on vacation and feeling like an idiot, I was determined NOT to call them with the bad news.  I retraced every single step: car to porch, porch to sign, sign to porch, back to the car. Nothing. Then the grid search—zig-zagging the entire front yard, while praying to the real estate gods.  Rain starts pouring down. Every shiny rock looks like metal for a split second before dissapointment circles back ar...

Now, That's A Buttload! The next time you use the word 'butt load', remember, it does have a backstory behind it (pun intended). Historically, it means “a large amount,” having roots in old English wine measurement systems.  A 'butt' was a unit used to measure large quantities of liquid, especially wine or ale during medieval times.  One 'butt' equals two hogsheads, another description, which is a large cask or barrel used as a unit of measurement, typically for wine or beer, and it is equivalent to about 63 gallons (238 liters). This unit was most commonly used in England and parts of Europe, especially in reference to shipping and storing liquids. Today, “a buttload of something” means a ton of whatever. For instance, when inundated with a lot of paperwork or an exaggeration of a larg...

Don't Come In SwingingVerbally approaching someone aggressively, whether in a raised voice, harsh words, patronizing tone, or a confrontational attitude doesn't start a conversation. It puts up barriers, breaks down effective communication and can cause irreparable damage. Like a hole punched in drywall, the best repair still leaves a mark. It's never the same. So, prior to hitting those phone digits and hastily confronting another person, think of the potential outcome. It's best to pause, take a few deep breaths and above all, use restraint.  To avoid an overly emotional purge, write down key points. Stay to the script. That keeps the door open for what needs to be said. When pushed, remain firm, no unnecessary apologies. Be concise. When someone brings a virtual hammer and starts swi...

Standing On Shaky Ground Buying a home is one of the biggest financial and emotional commitments a consumer will ever make. In a market of fast-tracking offers, competing buyers and high-stakes negotiations, it’s easy to feel pressured to compromise on wants and needs. Stand your ground, otherwise the process can become shaky or uncertain. Know the must-haves, a budget, and specific timelines separates success from someone who ends up with regret. That’s where an experienced agent becomes your solid foundation. Avoid being in a hurry to buy the wrong house, a skilled representative helps you remain firm and protect from costly mistakes or sudden surprises. Avoid waiving the home inspection or appraisal contingencies, they can be safety nets in preventing a hard fall. Rather than standin...

Organic Is Always Best This year's growing season has been tremendously successful but also brought challenges. We realized that zucchini plants need full on sun to avoid mildew forming on the plants and spreading throughout the garden. No shade. We were able to use simple, household products to limit the powdery substance from killing the plants. I used baking soda, milk, diluting the mixture with water, liberally spraying all the leaves and stems for several days. It worked, until rain showers saturated the plants. Mike then clipped then tossed the affected leaves. They continued to thrive, producing a good amount of summer squash. I made Squash & Basil soup, so easy and delicious! Next year, we will reconfigure the garden to promote healthy growth among all fruits and vegetables. We ...

B-A-N-A-N-A Squash Soup: It's Bananas! This growing season, we pulled all squash, cucumber and tomato plants off the ground, suspending them from the trellis's my husband aka Mr. Green Jeans installed. His garden vision turned out to be beautiful in multiple ways. In the feature photo, the Banana Squash hang from the vines. As the banana squash began to mature, we placed them each in nylon hose, tying them off to the metal bars to prevent them breaking off and falling to the ground. Prior to harvest, I searched for a simple, hearty soup recipeto enjoy on those cooler evenings. This one is so simple, yet flavorful. We usually eat it with toasted sourdough bread, slathered with butter from the local bakery.  BANANA SQUASH SOUP by JazminaReady In: 1hr 15minsIngredients: 8Serves: 6 INGREDIE...

Pulling A Sale Out My... Buyer clients had a clear vision of their needs when we began their home home search journey. A favorable deal was at the top of the Wish List!  At that time, short sales were prevalent, the market extremely brisk. They were ready, willing & able cash buyers. After educating them on multiple offers, quick timelines, minimal contingencies, we set off in search of a 2nd home that would serve them well for many years to come.  An offer submitted on a foreclosure fell through due to mud in the crawl space upon the home inspection and new cracks on walls throughout the house each time we visited. The bank refused to address, we moved on. A cute, little single level cottage adjacent to a city park caught my eye. We took a quick look and immediately submitted an offer....

Saying Sorry Doesn't Always Work The office printer decided to mangle documents right before I was scheduled to meet a couple who’d flown in that morning to specifically see available properties. After wrestling a clean copy free, I ran out the door. Realizing, I was going to be several minutes late to the appointment, picked up phone to notify. There's a certain awkwardness when an apology is necessary but I know the importance of doing so quickly and sincerely.  I dialed, she answered, which began a meltdown, "I’m less than 3 miles away from the first house on the list. I’m so sorry.” Silence. Then she started crying, her voice cracking with emotion. Ugh! I thought, how do I fix this? She was stressed to the max and my lateness was just another log on her roaring fire of disappointmen...
