"It's never over until it's over!" Remember that old saying?  We often get in a hurry and make assumptions we should not make.  Look at what happened at the end of the Super Bowl.  We just knew Seattle was going to score another touchdown and then a bad call caused a huge mistake.  Seattle walked away in defeat.  I am sure there were many players on the sidelines counting the victory.   I saw Brady's face just before it happened and he was so sullen.  He was thinking the Patriots had lost.  Then everything turned around in a flash.  Patriots won again. It was a big surprise for the Patriots and for the Seahawks.   How often in life do we do the same thing?  We walk away from potential wins because the picture looks bleak.  When, in fact, we might just be on the edge of winning.  In real...

This year we got our Christmas gift early.  It was the best one I 've ever had.  It was a cruise to the Caribbean.  I have always wanted to go there but never had the opportunity and it was all I had imagined it to be. What a great gift!  Something I will cherish forever, the great memories and the wonderful photos.  I had so much fun!  The Emerald Princess is a great way to cruise.  Everything was terrific including fabulous food, entertainment and the ports and excursions were great! I love the beach and the beaches in Roatan, Belize and Cozumel are so beautiful!  The water was warm for December and crystal clear.  The white sand beaches were great for walking and exploring.  I highly recommend this trip for anyone wanting to get away for a little while. Now, that I am back, I am n...

Recently, I went on a cruise to the Caribbean.  Yes, that is me lying on the beach looking at another cruise ship in the background. The beach was nice between my toes, the water crystal clear and warm.  And if you have been on a cruise, you know how incredibly wonderful the food is. Every night at dinner, the table is set with nice dishes and linen napkins.  The waiters hold your seat for you, put your napkin on your lap and hand you the menu.  The choices are many and can include appetizers, salads, soups, and various entrees with a variety of meats.  The choices are all fine.  Fine as in fine dining.  No beans and potatoes here.  Some of my favorite meals included lobster, shrimp, crab, and my favorite, scallops.  The dishes all had long titles.  The fruits and vegetables came m...

If you were in the right place, at the right time, would you?   This is a real question.  How will you answer this question?  Of course, it all depends upon what we are talking about at any given time, doesn't it? Or does it really? Think about it after you have initially answered the question. If you say "yes", then tell me why you think you would say "yes".  People procrastinate all the time.  They always have excuses why they cannot do something, but most of the time it is simply procrastination or fear that keeps them from moving forward.  Is this happening in your world?  Pinpoint the reasons why your business is stalled and you will find either procrastination or fear. Remove these obstacles and the possibilities are endless. Are you ready to go at a moment's notice?   When the p...

Refrigerator Soup is what I am calling my newest recipe.  A few days ago, I had a vegetable tray that had leftovers.  Today I made omelets for breakfast and there was a considerable amount of leftover sausage, onions, and mushrooms.  I try not to waste anything, so into a pot of water go the veggies with a little salt, pepper and of course, Mrs. Dash for seasoning.  Cook until the carrots are tender. The cherry tomatoes were cut in half and the celery and onions were in the pot as well.  When carrots were tender I added the cooked sausage, stirred well.  Then 2 handfuls of egg noodles.  Simmer until the noodles are soft.   Voila!  Refrigerator Soup!  Delicious, nutritious, and Free! Don't waste leftovers.  Put them into a soup or casserole.  I find that experimenting with different food...

It's a cold day in...You finish the sentence.   :) Is it cold where you are?  The weatherman says most of the United States is under severe weather with records cold temperatures and snow or heavy thunderstorms and tornadoes.  Very bad weather for November!  Winter is not even supposed to be here yet.  Most weather like this occurs in January and February,  so what does that mean for this winter to come? I personally hate cold weather, and the older I get the more it bothers me to be cold.  I love the sunshine and cloudy, gloomy weather is not for my liking.   If you are the same as me, maybe you should think about moving south?  I know the perfect place to be.  It is near the Gulf of Mexico, in case you love walking on a beach.  The fishing is excellent and the bays are large, easy to ...

How many agents take the time to go preview properties?  Our office takes a tour every week of the new listings.  I always go and see the new homes.  It is not time wasted but time invested! There is so much more to a home than pictures or visual tours can show.  It is so much better to see the home in person.  For example, today we visited a home located on 1/2 acre with beautiful oak trees.  This older home has been totally remodeled to include granite countertops, fresh modern color schemes, tile and much more.  Everything about the home is great including the fact you have room to park an RV or boat in the extra large driveway.  Without seeing this home, one could not get the total perspective. The area is close to schools, the fishing bays, small town atmosphere with large city onl...

The Wood Home in Bayside, Texas was built in 1875 by John and Nancy Wood.  You can read the historical marker that sits in front of the house.  This home was a mansion at the time and homes like this were as few as they are today in this area.  The materials were shipped by boat from Florida and Louisiana.  There are 8 bedrooms and 3 baths in this home.  It is constructed of Long Leaf Pine from Florida.  When I was there last year I learned that was a popular material to build with many years ago but does not exist today.  Another rarity for this home. ( Long leaf pine forests used to stretch from Florida to Texas but only 3% of the forests remain.)       Bayside was called St. Mary's and later the name was changed.  The town sits on Copano Bay and was a popular port city during the ...

Sunset Lake Park in Portland, TX is a great place to go fishing.  It is a lake along an area of  Corpus Christi Bay.  You can either fish in the lake or in the bay.  Either way you will probably catch some fish.  There is parking along this stretch of land and just an easy walk over to the bay.  Wade fishing is popular here also. At the end of the road, there is a parking lot of asphalt so those of you who do not want to get sand in your shoes, won't have to.  This is a good area for families to bring the children for an afternoon of fishing fun.  There are signs to direct you and also rules to abide.  No alcoholic beverages in this area and do watchout for wildlife.  That includes snakes.  Snakes are in this region.  Where there is sand and beach, one must always watch out for s...

A light mist of rain is falling on the Texas coast this morning.  The hummingbirds are flying back and forth to the feeders hanging from the back porch.  The lemon tree and the mandarin and the tangelo are sprouting bright white blossoms.  Ring neck doves as big as pigeons find their way to the china berry tree where feeders hang gently swaying in the balmy breeze.  A warm 69 degrees makes it feel like early Spring.  Songbirds sing their songs, other birds chatter in the background.  The Earth is blooming, growing, and changing with each passing day.  Seeds are sprouting. Green blades are popping up everywhere.  Soon all will be green. Carolina jasmine line the fence row with showy yellow blooms.  The coral honeysuckle is a big contrast with fiery orange trumpets.  Caladiums, hosta, bou...
