I saw this Tomball TX Yard Angel the other day and loved the way she is holding the Dove in her hands.  After doing my bible study this morning she came to mind so I drove by and took her picture.  I don't know that I have ever studied about Doves and their significance in burnt offerings but that was where the bible took me this morning. I found out that Turtledoves and pigeons are symbols of mourning innocence and are associated with poverty in the Old Testament. The study went back and forth from Old and New Testament and spoke of him (Jesus Christ) who for our sake became poor.  His pathway of poverty began with emptying himself of his preincarnate glory to be born in to poverty and ended in the sacrifice through which we became rich. Friday lunch with the ducks.  After eating at Schlotsky's for lunch I went to the duck pond for some entertainment by the crazy ducks. These two were just hanging out by the fence.  They must be related, with all those similar markings. This duck was happily taking a swim in the nice cool water. These ducks were crossing the street.  They seem to think they rule the streets here in Tomball.  They will frequently go to the Jack in the Box and other restaurants and play in the ditches when there is water.  Thank goodness that all the drivers let the ducks waddle across the street and don't run them over. Tomorrow is my birthday.  My oldest sister already called to invite me to lunch and a movie (haven't decided which one to go to yet) tomorrow afternoon.  My youngest brother emailed me to say his package might be late getting here from Hawaii, and my other siblings will probably call tomorrow with greetings.  As we all get older (I am the youngest of six), it gets harder and harder to think of gifts for people that they need or want.  My oldest sister, who is 15 years older than me, has a birthday on June 18th, so I have to think of a present for her.  Any suggestions?  I could always get her movie passes -- I know she goes to the movies at least 3 times a month.  06/02/2010

  "Date Night", A Movie Review.  This movie has been out for a few weeks, but I like the fact that there were fewer crowds.  Tina Fey was quite cute in this movie, portraying the life of a real estate agent/housewife having an adventure for her "date night" with her husband.  Steve Carell (of the Office) is very belivable in his role as the husband and has quite a few memorable lines with Mark Wahlberg and also a taxi driver.   Notable performances also from Taraji Henson (from Benjamin Button) and the cab driver.  Ray Liotta also had a small part that was very well acted.  The movie was 1 hour and 23 minutes.  Overall I think it was worth my time and money.  Hope you enjoy it. 06/01/2010

"Robin Hood" starring Russel Crowe and Cate Blanchett is worth the money.  Cate's performance was very good, she even goes into battle at one point.  Special mention should be made of William Hurt who plays a small role quite well and Mark Addy who plays Friar Tuck with a lot of wit and humor.  Also appearing was Scott Grimes as Will Scarlett.  I associate Scott with ER, where he played a major role as a doctor  for several years.  I had a hard time getting used to his English accent, and kept expecting him to say "Clear" and be standing over a patient with the defibulator paddles. I am glad to see him working though.  My favorite part of the movie is a battle scene where hundreds of archers fire arrows all at the same time and you see hundreds of arrows flying through the air towards t... 05/22/2010

"Iron Man II", A Movie Review.  I actually saw Iron Man II the first day it was released, I think it was three Friday's ago.  The movie was very impressive.  Robert Downy, Jr was very good in his role as iron man -- there are lots of high tech feats the flying suit can do.  And who wouldn't want to be able to be questioned by the US Congress and end up getting a standing ovation from the crowd.   Gwyneth Paltrow was Pepper Potts in the movie once again.  Don Cheadle was Iron Man's sidekick and he tries to keep Iron Man in line.   Scarlett Johansson really steals the show with her fighting skills.  The filmmakers chose to show  the fight scenes in slow motion (like in the movie "The Matrix"). 05/21/2010

Yesterday when I attended my monthly meeting of the Tomball Business and Professional Women I found out that a young Tomball marine had been killed by an improvised explosive device while on tour in Afghanistan.  They mentioned that a motorcade would be bringing his body to Klein Funeral home that afternoon.  As I was driving home I saw everyone lined up so parked my car and with my flip mino in one hand and a flag I carry in my trunk in the other hand I waited to pay my respects. Extreme Science Going on from 6pm until 8pm at Chick-fil-A Tomball tonight 4/9/10.  The scientist (Mark Shepherd) has a special Hurricane and Tornado science program.  These pictures are from the March Extreme Science Night.  The kids were absolutely riveted to every move and experiment. When he asked for a volunteer, the kids could not get their hands fast enough.  They all wanted to be the volunteer. Here is where he started the experiment.  The kid had their eyes are glued to the bucket with water in it.
