Saturday December 6th there was a Christmas Parade in The Colony, TX.  I personally could not attend but I heard it was the best one yet.  A lot effort goes into these events and the community involvement is treasured. I am happy to announce the 'Friends of The Colony Dog Park' float won first place in the 'most creative' category.  We were not able to procure a trailer so we used what we had.  (We are a non-profit organization).  The message came across loud and clear, however.  Four large dogs were in the back and 'How much is that doggie in the window' blared out of the speakers. Picture taken by Ryan Scally with permission for my post here.   A special thanks goes out to Lisa Pierce.  We couldn't have done it without you!

Pirate Days in The Colony, TX.  2008 was a huge success.  The festive atmosphere included- Music from local bands, food with flair, many vendors, sword fights, and Pirates from 'far, far away'.  I was there to participate in the fundraiser for the Friends of The Colony Dog Park (non-profit organization). Bounce House! This really works! He just wanted to sniff the camera! Lisa and Harrison at our table the first day! Brandon and Mel! Back drop of Lewisville Lake!

There was an impressive turnout for the Bow Wow Pow Wow at Bill Allen Park in The Colony, TX.  Many people enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with other dog lovers and get to know local vendors in our community.  I am one of the volunteers raising money for a dog park.  The city has approved the construction but our non-profit organization will provide funds for maintenance.  I am not asking YOU for money.  I only ask you to view my video/slide show to raise awareness of the project.  Furthermore, if you have tips or suggestions regarding how to provide a safe and dog friendly environment for our new dog park please comment. It is that time again.  The economy is in turmoil, unemployment rates are high and the price of gas is through the roof, AGAIN.  We are in need of nothing less than a knight in shining armor.  So where is he/she?  I am not able to cast a confident vote yet.  Come election day I will, however. I was very surprised, shocked even, to find out a good friend of mine has never voted in a Presidential election.  We have argued our political views for years yet she has never taken the time to vote.  I feel jilted and 'put on'.  She has been complaining all this time about Bush yet she didn't 'not' vote against him? I will not rant share my political views in this forum.  In the past it has gotten me into trouble.  I choose to share my opinion with family and very 'close' friends only.  (and som...

Quite the topic on the home improvement forums these days. Will replacing your old tank water heater with a new tankless water heater lower your utility bills? In short, yes, but there's a lot more to the story! A tankless water heater heats water as it's being used while a tank water heater heats water before it's needed. Simple physics dictates that it takes the same number of BTUs to heat water from 80 degrees to 120 degrees whether it's in a tank or on the way to your shower so a tankless water heater doesn't use any less energy to heat water than a tank unit. The savings happens between times of hot water usage when a tank unit continues to use energy to keep the water hot and ready while a tankless does not. Obviously, overall, a tankless unit uses less energy than a tank unit, bu...

As we all know that the housing market all around the U.S. is in trouble. There are more forcloseur than ever. In My market area it make's selling homes more difficult. As we all know having a large inventory of preforcloseur and forclosed properties makes it more difficult to sell. So what do you do to make your client more informed about the market. If home has just come off the market and hasn"t sold, don't  be discouraged. The reason it didn"t sell may have nothing to do with your home or the market. In reality.your home may have been one of the more dessirable properties for sale. If your listing has expired and you still want results, before you put your home back on the market.take a step back and review your situation. Q   Where  should you begin? A. Start by making a commitment t...

I attended my daughter's last choir concert at Lakeview Middle School yesterday.  It was called "Lakeview Live!  A Showcase of Broadway Musicals."  It was a bitter sweet occasion for me because my youngest child is going to high school next year and it is likely the last time I will be inside Lakeview Middle School.  It marks a new era in my daughter's life and mine. When Lakeview changed music directors I had concerns.  My older daughter was taught by Ms. Fannin.  She learned more in choir in three years than I did in my sixteen years of choir practice.  The new director, Mr. Moses, had big shoes to fill.  He met the challenge!  I was overwhelmed with the amount of emotion and talent I witnessed last night.  I am glad my daughter got an opportunity to be in his class. Thank you Mr. Mos...

It's a new lifestyle at the Colony. Jackson-Shaw, the proud developer of the Cascades at the Colony began this project in the late 2005 and expected to complete in a few more years. This master-planned development is the on-going trend of development projects around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex where it has a mixture residential, office and retail use. When completed, this Cascades project development will cover 100-acre of prime land off State Highway SH 121. This development is also minutes from the North Dallas Tollway and Interstate I-35. The residential community at Cascades consists of garden homes and two-story townhomes. The garden homes are typically "smaller" lots when compared to regular single-family homes. The townhomes start with the small unit of 2-bedrooms, 2 1/2 bath...

Well it is 2008 and most of us are reflecting back on 2007. As you all know it was a tough year for the real estate market all over the country. We all make new years resolutions on losing weight, selling or listing more homes, spending more time with the family, and alot of other forgotten resolutions of the past. We study or trade with the anticipation that we will make a new start which bring"s me to this little article that I found at Broker Agent News.  A DAY IN THE LIFE OF  TOP PRODUCING AGENTS?" This was and is a challenging question to get answered because it varied so much from one agent to the next. As a Realtor we all have our ways of starting the day.The producer has theres as well. Do you do these things to make you a top producer? They take advantage of there profession's flex...
