The pictures above were taken at the Augusta Pines firework display last year. My slideshow will be the only fireworks we will be seeing in Harris County this year as all firework displays in Harris and Montgomery County have been cancelled due to our severe drought. We had a nice thunderstorm the other night but being about 17 inches low the ground just immediately soaked it up. We have lived here since December 1996 and it is so strange not seeing the fireworks stands open. Usually they are doing a booming business but this is also the driest that it has been since we have lived here. Typically the entire day of the 4th I hear firecrackers going off but today it has been blissfully quiet.   With 100 degree plus weather for most of the last month, one has to wonder why on earth we would stop at a “pepper shop.”  But! Stop we did today at this specialty Pepper Palace in sensational Olde town Spring.   We were on our way to pick up some trusted homeopathic remedies over at Nature's Solutions when this place caught our eye.  We are always watching for examples of good marketing, and this signage worked well.   Having been raised by a Cajun Chef, hot peppers are a much loved part of all my cooking and favorite dishes.  We are very familiar with the effects of peppers.     That being said, we were not really prepared for the selection of peppers in various venues that we found.  This place has walls full of various sauces, relishes, and gourmet products all featuring the hotte... 06/29/2011

According to Realty Trac, Inc. There were 153 foreclosure filings in Spring Texas in April of 2011. That works out to be 1 in every 339 homes and represents a 24 increase over March 2011 which is alarming. The increasing number of foreclosure filings are further evidence that the housing crisis is not over. From my understanding the Banks and The Department of Housing and Urban Development have all agreed that 2011 will be the year they push through with most of the pending foreclosures that have been held up due to title issues, faulty assignments and moratoriums.
