Seriously folks I am disappointed in myself for posting about GAS but I got a FABULOUS deal this AM & have to share with the rest of SAN ANTONIO!     I am the buyers agent for our team & our office is half an hour from my house so I drive a ton.  When the boyfriend said he filled up at Wal-Mart for $2.01 I was skeptical.  I'm not calling him a liar but I had to check it out myself.   Low & behold, what the heck do I see with my own TWO eyes but, gas for $2.01, filler up.       It's times like this when I wish I had two tanks.  The place was packed (as expected) and I had to wait around but my car got gas.    Amazing!  Here's the proof and if you are interested in CHEAP GAS I was @ the Wal-Mart located off 1604 & Culebra. __________________________________________________________________...

Earlier this year the state approved the use of digital billboards on our Texas highways.  While there were (& still are) many folks who were against them citing distracting to motorists, etc.  I think they are great.  The states restrictions call for at least 8 seconds to display the image & 2 seconds to switch to the next image.  San Antonio however, has stricter rules and calls for the image to be visible for 8 and then next slide has to be switched within 1 second.  I have seen them all over SA lately & find them informative & entertaining.  I did pull over to get the pictures posted below.  I think they are a nice improvement to the old hum drum billboards, what do you think?     _______________________________________________________________________________________________________...

On October 31 - November 2, the San Antonio Symphony will present Doc Severinsen and his El Ritmo de la Vida (The Rhythm of Life) program, featuring classical Spanish music with a touch of jazz.  The performance will be at the Majestic Theater. You probably remember Doc Severinsen as Johnny Carson's Tonight show music director.  After Carson left the Tonight show, Severinson performed and conducted with orchestras in the US and Canada before retiring to Mexico where he became interested in Spanish music. These performances should be fresh, lively; something new and different. For times and tickets call 210-554-1010 or go to www.sasymphony.org or www.ticketmaster.com or call 210-224-9600.

Admittedly, residential real estate in San Antonio doesn't look as good as it did last month, with the pace of sales slowing 9.5% in September. The median home price dropped to $145,700 from last September's $147,700. This comes after several months of 1% to 2% appreciation, though, compared to other cities.  However, the economic prospects are good for a turnaround next spring. Employment growth in health care and government, including the military, continues to help keep San Antonio's real estate market stable. The unemployment rate in September was unchanged at 5%. The job market gained 3,500 jobs, mostly "back to school" positions. Seasonal jobs, such as in tourism and construction, contributed to some 2,800 job losses, and the financial and professional business services sector ga...

The Pentagon is planning to spend $3 billion on various projects in San Antonio over the next few years, only partly as a result of 2005 Base Realignment and Closure recommendations. The Air Force will break ground next spring on a $900 million Airmen Training Complex at Lackland AFB, on San Antonio's southwest side. This will be the biggest USAF construction project anywhere for the near future, and by 2014, 20 new structures will be built. They include a dormitory and eight 1,200-person training complexes that will be served by four dining halls to replace the Recruiting, Housing & Training facilities, some of which are around 50 years old. The project will be paid for by military construction funds, unlike the $1.8 billion in BRAC expenditures planned for Fort Sam Houston for the nex...

I hope to have a cozy fire going in the fireplace Monday night. That is when weather forecasters are saying our first cold front of the season will arrive here in San Antonio. All homeowners should have their heaters checked and maintained before using them. We have our HVAC system checked and maintained by Tiger Services twice a year website . If you have a fireplace and are planning on using it this season, please keep the following safety tips in mind. Have flues and chimneys inspected before each heating season. Open the fireplace damper before lighting the fire and keep it open until the ashes are cool. Never close the damper before going to bed if the ashes are still warm. An open damper will prevent build-up of poisonous gases inside the home. This is especially important to do w...

Just in time for Christmas 2008 CATS is coming to San Antonio, Texas.  Tickets went on sale today at San Antonio's very own National Historic Landmark, the Majestic theatre box office (or 210-224-9600).  The show runs December 23 - 28 and is an award-winning musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. I personally love the names they came up with for the furry, feline friends in CATS, from Deuteronomy to Gus (short for Asparagus) they are creative, talented & fun.  Never a dull moment in the musical CATS if you are in San Antonio in December, try to catch a showing of CATS.    224 E Houston ST San Antonio, Texas 78205 (210) 226-5700           __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Kristin Moran, RE/MAX Access - The Moran Team "Sis...

Ever wonder what simple things you can change to go green that will make a huge difference in the environment?  Baby steps might seem silly to some but in the grand scheme of things they can make huge differences.  From hand washing your dishes to leaky toilets Karen Klages of the Chicago Tribune came up with the list below that was posted in our San Antonio paper. THE DISHWASHER Use it. Contrary to popular eco-belief, it's greener than hand-washing - if you run it with full loads and scrape rather than rinse. The average dishwasher in American homes today uses 8.7 gallons of water a load. Washing by hand for 10 minutes with water running can use 20 gallons. If you fill the sink, you still use about 5 gallons for washing, 5 for rinsing.  LAUNDRYWash only full loads of laundry and save (...

For Kids & Kids at Heart                                                                                          The Witte Museum's backyard exhibit, Log Cabins & Historic Homes, is a great way for kids to learn about pioneer life.  Parents will enjoy the experience as well.  The "hands-on" exhibit displays historic San Antonio houses. You can walk around the homes to see what materials were used to build each one. You can then try to build a your own log cabin in the "little log cabin." Only the log cabin interiors are open to visitors.  The other houses are used for staff offices and museum programs. The Ruiz House was the home of the city's first schoolmaster, Jose Francisco Ruiz.  The Ruiz House was built in the mid-18th Century. The long front room was used as the first public sch...
