You may remember I wrote a post last August “Going For it.” Well our contingent offer worked and we are closed and funded!                 Today’s market is challenging, but as I explained to my buyers last August, it’s also an opportunity. After finding the perfect property, under construction, on 10+ acres (now they can stop boarding their horses) we decided it was worth going for it.The fly in the ointment was they need to sell their gorgeous home in Canyon Creek in order to buy. After the seller accepted their buyers offer they went all out to ready their home to be presented to the current audience of buyers! I knew with the right photography, marketing and my expertise in the community I could make it happen. We closed their home in Canyon Creek on Wednesday and just closed on the...

I have clients who’ve been looking for acreage with a new house so they can stop boarding their horses and have them on their property. Today’s market is challenging, but as I told them, it’s also an opportunity. We found the perfect property, under construction, on 10+ acres, so we are going for it!                      The fly in the ointment is they need to sell their gorgeous home in order to buy. In this market a seller needs to consider a contingent contract and if they get their price and terms, why not give it a try.The sellers have a savvy listing agent that is in full agreement so after a week of questions and answers exchanged, we made an offer. Drum roll please...... Our offer is accepted! Now the ball is in my court to market their home and get it under contract.“Optimism i...

The weather is turning colder and Lisa Von Domek is pushing their Dallas rain down to us so let's opt for taking a short trip (an hour) to Salado this week-end! There is shopping and of course great food plus you'll get a real understanding of what Texas is all  about (in case you didn't already know) at my restaurant pick in Salado!   JOHNNY'S STEAKS AND BAR-BE-QUE    http://johnnyssteaksandbbq.com/Salado is a wonderful place to spend the day shopping, especially at this time of the year.   There are stores for antiques, home decor, art galleries and more. After you've spent the day browsing and you're hungry - stop in at Johnny's  on Thomas Arnold Dr. Johnny's is a family run business and they take a lot of pride in that. When you walk through their door, they want you to get a feel  ...

Every year I miss these by a weekend or two.  And every year, I tell myself I'll remember the next year.  Silly, since they're held 10 minutes from the ranch and I'm probably one of the few people you know who is absolutely convinced that haggis is food of the gods, the pipes are music of the gods, and whose daughter, when hearing that the educational tour we were going on to Scotland would include a ceilli, said "Men in skirts with pipes and swords!  I'm going to have to get you a leash!". Well, maybe this is the year!  (But no leash necessary, my husband would be with me).  Tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, the 49th Annual Salado Scottish Clan Gathering and Highland Games will be held in Salado, Texas.  I don't have anything in my clan tartan to wear, but maybe I'll go anyway. P...

The village of Salado, between Austin and Waco on Interstate 35, is a very historic community that emphasizes an interest in the arts, education, natural beauty and scenic attractions. The longest continually operating hotel in Texas, the Stagecoach Inn, is in Salado, and the hotel is known for its excellent restaurant and historic setting. Salado is also proud to have eighteen of its oldest buildings included on the National Register of Historical Places and twenty-three Texas Historical Markers. Salado was not incorporated until the year 2003, and the town boasts a population of just under 5,000 residents. Salado was founded in 1859 on the Old Military Road crossing of Salado Creek, and was originally an agricultural and industrial center. Salado College operated in the community unti...
