Farmers grew cotton on the land and because the harvest was especially bountiful, they named the town Prosper. Prosper Texas is a family town located conveniently between Frisco and Celina Texas, and 10 miles northwest of McKinney near State Highway 289 . The little Town of Prosper, TX is steadily growing. In just a few years, the North Dallas suburb has grown from around 2,000 to 6,000 people.
