The 31stAnnual Historical Christmas in Montgomery took place last Saturday. I missed the parade but took a stroll through the Marketplace. The shopping was fun with many of the local stores and artist highlighting their wares. The wind threatened to blow away the tents but shopping was brisk with many attendees picking up Christmas gifts.                                      The Cookie Walk was the highlight of the day. The line to  enter the Community Center never seemed to get any smaller and you knew by the smell once you entered that the wait was well worth it! The thousands of homemade cookies piled high on the holiday decorated tables were a delight to the senses. I swear I gained 5lbs just smelling the cookies.                   Later in the day the Montgomery Historical homes we...

The sunset Friday Sept. 12, 2008 was spectacular and a little scary. What the pictures do not show is the trees are already whipping to and fro, you could tell that there would be trees down before morning, and the clouds were moving fast in a circular motion unlike the regular straight in from the coast winds before a storm clouds that we are used to. I stood out for the longest staring at the sky and watching the changes wondering what the night would hold for us. As the sun set in flaming colors, I knew that it would be a different world when morning came.

Montgomery, Texas is the birthplace of the Texas flag.  Such is the designation given to this community located at the intersection of State Hwy 105 and FM 149.  After serving as a local trading post for 11 years, Montgomery became a chartered city in 1837. This city is committed to protecting the history, charm and personality of the small town.  Yet, the focus is on the future growth and prosperity.  Known by many to be the perfect place to acquire a large tract of land to raise horses, new developments with smaller acreage are showing up every day.  Long before General Sam Houston rode into battle on a white horse April 21, 1836 to win Texas' independence in the Battle of San Jacinto that only lasted 18 minutes - Texans have been romanticizing their relationship with horses. It is n...

Hi!Just wanted to let you know that Lake Conroe in Montgomery, Tx. is looking great compared to last summer.  The drought of last year which brought the lake levels way down is now again at perfection for boating, fishing, water skiing, etc. This 22,000 acre man made lake is again, truly Houston's playground!  It seems now home owners are the permanent type, deciding to make Lake Conroe in Montgomery County home.  So many new construction homes in almost all the waterfront subdivisons are booming again.  Of course, the waterfront lots are at a premium, with not too much left.  The homes have increased in value-especially waterfont homes-but compared to places like California, Colorado, and east coast, are still bargains.Come and see this lake area and take advantage of all it has to offe...
