Off With Their Heads!!  Today their was a preview of The Renaissance Festival in the city of Magnolia from 4pm to 8pm.  King Henry is a friend of mine.  Before he knew I was standing nearby he was chatting with some children.  He was very congenial to them. All the players were on the Magnolia Stroll, which is behind the businesses facing FM 1774. These young ladies were nice enough to pose for a picture.    This man proclaimed to be a marriage councilor, wink, wink. This fence on the stroll has been painted recently.  Most people in Magnolia are horse people, so the painting will be appreciated. The little fairy is very tired. The man told me this was a dulcimer.  It produced some very nice music. The ren fest opens on October 8th.  Hope you can attend.

Closing on Sun Fisher Court Delayed -- Until We Know If It Is Still Standing! The closing on Sun Fisher Court in Magnolia Texas was supposed to take place on or before this Friday.  But now with all the wild fires happening, we don't even know if the house is still standing.  If the house did escape the fire, the lender is calling for a new inspection to determine if there was any damage caused by the fire. I am the buyers agent on this house, and I want so badly for the buyers to get this house.  They are so excited about it.  I hope all turns out okay!  Everyone please stay safe and evacuate if instructed to do so by authorities. This picture is sideways out of a car, but you can get the idea of how hot the fire was.  It looks like the flames are up in the clouds.  This picture was ta...

FIRES IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY ~ MAGNOLIA SCHOOLS CANCELED TODAY! Yesterday here in Montgomery County, Texas, wildfires whipped through the area causing thousands to be evacuated from their homes.  Due to these fires, the Magnolia ISD has closed all schools as the high school is now serving as a shelter for displaced families. We have had very high winds during the past few days and with the already very dry conditions, a tiny spark can cause big problems for the area.  As of this morning, the fires in this area are much more contained but we are not out of the woods yet.  Everyone in the area needs to take heed and to take some extra precautions as the fire threat is very real. The Texas Department of Public Safety has published this information concerning being prepared if a fire is threa...

Mandatory Evacuation of Magnolia, Texas Residents.  As I am writing this article, emergency vehicles are racing down State Highway 249 on the way to Magnolia to assist in the fight against the fires which are spreading.  The last fires that were here about a month ago did not even evoke this sort of frenzy, but I could see the smoke earlier today/tonight that signalled to me that the fire was very close and the smoke was very dense. Here are some pictures I took. This was about 10 miles from Magnolia. About 5 miles from Magnolia.  I thought the sun looked awfully red.  There were no clouds today, so this is all smoke. After I got to Magnolia I found out they were evacuating the town.  See the road block down the street? Here is the last picture I took before I left town to go back towar...

Do you believe that what goes around, comes around?  There is some evidence to that effect today. In the ongoing story about the burned barn in Magnolia, the latest installment occurred this morning. Somehow the story about the devestation and the loss of 14 showhorses made the national and international news.  That does not lessen the trauma or the pain the owners have had to deal with.  It does add to the glimmers of hipe however. There is a tv show on ABC called extreme makeover.  It heard about the trouble from the 2nd page of the Wall Street Journal and contacted the owners to evaluate the possibility of using this disaster as a television makeover. This morning friends, family and past and present students gathered at the property and showed support for the barn owners in their ho...

As most of you saw earlier this week we blogged about a tragic fire that destroyed a horse facility between Magnolia and The Woodlands.  It has made the National and International news and has attracted the attention of the people from "Extreme Makeover." The Barn Owner needs your help!  There is a Facebook page regarding the tragedy and a place to vote for the Goslin-Nix family to possibly receive a Extreme Makeover.  Please take a few minutes to go to Facebook and "Like" the page and Vote for them.  This barn has done so much over the years to help the community and impact the lives of so many children and adults as well that we want to do everything we can to see something positive come from this Extreme Tragedy! Here's the page! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Help-Nominate-the-Goslin...

Yesterday we shared the demise of one of the favorite properties we have ever sold.  The horse facility where some of our favorite folks made their living educating others about the joys of horsemanship and learning to care about the needs of other living beings, burned to the ground in the early hours. Fourteen exquisite arabian horses were lost in that blaze.  Yesterday very little seemed to quell the pain in our hearts.  Today, after a time to reflect, we see a flicker of hope.   One of the horses that survived was an older horse used to help teach young children how to ride.  This horse is not beautiful to look at but is lovely when responding to the young riders.  He is gentleness and patience personified.  In his prime he may have been of the same show quality as his peers.  Today...

This morning dawned as usual for most of us.  For one family however, things have changed forever.   They were wakened by knocking at the door with news that the 5000 sq ft barn that housed their horses as well as many boarders was on fire.  Horses that were comfortably bedded down last night in their private stalls were now imprisoned. 14 beautiful show horses perished in the blaze.  The other horses were freed in time and stood looking bewildered in the pasture at the time of our visit. The barn is now a crumpled pile of metal with charred pillars rising out of the smoke and mud.  The fire department did their best but the intense heat and the numerous flamable materials had a heat start. Community minded people as well as numerous neighbors, students and friends turned out to show sup...

Accident on Tomball Parkway near High Meadow Ranch on 7/19/11 at approximately 3pm.  This stretch of pavement was very slippery.  We are way behind on rain here in this part of Texas.  This brief rain storm brought all the oil to the surface of the street and made it very treacherous. Respondents to the emergency call were two sheriffs , one constable , three ambulances , one fire engine and about seven or eight wreckers .  It took about 30 - 45 minutes to move the victims and cars and clean up the street. Here is one of the ambulances loading a victim into the EMS vehicle. Here you can see the firemen cleaning up the road surface so cars wouldn't run over debris and cause another accident.  Thank you Mr Firemen . The whole front end of the car is mashed in, it looks like back to the da...

This morning I had a call from a buyer wanting to see a house in Plantersville.  I called and set up the appointment for 9am.  On the way over to the showing I saw this BBQ Hut in Magnolia being moved.  The city has been trying to do away with all the businesses right next to the railroad tracks in Magnolia.  The BBQ Hut was the last to be moved.  I think it had been there for over 20 years. After I showed the buyer the house in Plantersville, I went over to check on one of my listings.  Sure enough, someone had removed my sign, so I had to put up a new one.  Its a good thing I went over to check on it.  On the way back to my office in Tomball, I stopped at our Magnolia office where I spied this souped up race car out in front of a garage. I like the fat tires.  It looks like the bumpe...

CHEVAUX GROUP ~ COMMERCIAL LISTING UNDER CONTRACT Good news!  The commercial market is looking more and more positive.  This warehouse building in Magnolia, Texas is under contract and set to close in a few weeks! As we see confidence in the market, we should begin to see more and more of the commercial listings selling. In Montgomery County, we have certainly seen a bit of a decline in the commercial market over the past few years.  It is good that myself and other commercial brokers are also seeing more and more commercial properties go under contract. The commercial market is always a good indicator of the pulse of the entire real estate market.  If you have a commercial building to sell or lease or if you are looking to expand or move your current business, give Paula a call. Are These Canadian Snow Geese?  Or are they just regular geese, or even ducks?  I was on the way home from a showing in Magnolia, when I noticed a family feeding this flock of fowl.   I screeched on my brakes, whipped out my camera and ran down to the lake. I thought they looked like Canadian Geese, but now I'm not so sure.  When I compare these to the pictures on Google, they don't quite look the same.  Do you know what they are?   They sure are pretty whatever they are. This little dog liked to chase the birds. I couldn't resist including this lovely tulip picture from the Dallas Arboretum.  See more pics of the Dallas Arboretum.

What Does a Buyer's Market Mean to Me? It seems like everybody has heard we're in a buyer's market for the first time in twenty years. But what does that mean, exactly? I am not sure we are all on the same page about that. For sellers, it means, buck up.  Competition is stiff and if you need to sell, you must compete for a buyer. Your home must be priced favorably and show better than the other dozen or so homes that buyers will see when they look at yours. It DOES NOT MEAN you can "test the market" and see what's out happens. You are shooting yourself in the foot and stigmatizing your house.  That strategy should be reserved for a seller's market.  If you do not intend to sell unless you receive "your price," seek the advice of a competent REALTOR.  You may do well to hold off listing ...
