                                                                   I passed a sign today that was advertising a "Fishing Extravaganza", to sign-up now.  I didn't think much about it, but thought they were advertising a little early in the year for fishing.  Our temperature has been in the mid to high 30's for a few days which is as cold as it gets around here.  And then I saw an advertisement for the "13th Annual Fishing Extravaganza".  On January 25-27 the League City Pool will be stocked with 1,900 pounds of catfish and trout.  The city wants to promote fishing as a lifetime sport and a family event.  Fishing licenses and trout stamps are not required since its a controlled and private event.  Yes, our city pool is going to become a stocked fish tank for all to participate.I kid you n...

The League City Blue Santa Program is in full swing in preparation for Christmas.  This program gives children toys and bikes in the local area that would not be fortunate to receive gifts.  The League City Police Department heads up the program with help of volunteers from the Vehicle Maintenance Department, Police Department, E.M.S., the League City Volunteer Fire Department and the community of League City.  The Blue Santa program also offers families gift certificates to buy food from a local grocery store.  155 families were provided gifts and over 460 children were given toys in their 2007 program.To register or donate gifts contact the League City Police Department, 500 W.
