The City of Lakeway TX, just West of Austin, is planning on annexing approximately 1000 acres over the next ten years.  You're thinking, "That's a lot of land!"  Yes, it is, however, much of that land is already currently under construction with most of it going to single family homes, condos and townhomes. Here's a map of the plan... As you can see, The City of Lakeway has decided to stay away from moving South of Highway 71 and also into an area bordering Spicewood that is more acreage and more of a "ranching culture" than what Lakeway's city perception is. Lakeway plans on annexing about 1,000 acres in the next 10 years which is planned for single and multi-family homes as well as mixed-used developments.  The Lakeway Regional Medical Center is projected to be completed in 2012 and with this new hospital comes a need for homes. Last night we joined friends to hand out candy in our favorite Lake Travis, Lakeway TX neighborhood.  It was amazing how many trick-or-treaters we had and how much candy exchanged hands. As most of you know, there is a number of Dentists nationwide who are buying candy back from their patients at $1 per pound and sending it overseas to our troops. Which I think is an awesome program. This year, Lake Travis Lakeway TX has a similar program in place, except the candy is being gathered at a local bank and distributed to needy families in the Lake Travis area as part of the annual Thanksgiving Holiday food distribution program.  This is a great opportunity for Lake Travis Lakeway TX parents with trick-or-treating children to teach them about about giving.  Who knows, you may even want to u...

Every year, the City of Lakeway TX holds their FREE, annual Halloween Goblin Glow at the Lakeway City Park on Hurst Creek. This year was no exception... It was a lot of fun for the kiddos. They got to trick or treat at each of the hot-air balloons, there was a booth for face painting and balloon animals, and even a little haunted area where they could reach into a box and feel what's inside. The live music was provided by a local band from Westlake High School. And Alyssa was a hit with the younger crowd. A couple of kids even had their pictures taken with her as she was Elmo!  Maybe she should have charged to have her picture taken!! Here are some pictures of the balloons all lit up in the sky... Barbeques Galore had another amazing Cooking Experience this week.  Using a bit of Sunshine in a Bottle, Chef Kyle Jentsch presented an Italian feast completely on the grill! Course 1: Grilled Mussels in Paula's Lemon Cream Sauce Course 2: Grilled Shrimp Wrapped in Prosciutto with Melon and Spinach Salad Course 3: Plank Salmon Alla Caprese with Grilled Polenta Course 4: Grilled Strawberries with Orange Balsamic Syrup & Vanilla Bean Ice Cream There was a full house and lots of laughing and conversation as we watched and learned the secrets of grilling.  As always, Chef Kyle at Barbeques Galore Lakeway TX was fabulous and out did himself with Paula's Texas Lemon and Texas Orange Liqueurs.  My favorite was the Grilled Shrimp wrapped in Prosciutto with Melon and Spinach Salad.  I would neve...

LAKE TRAVIS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT(LTISD) EARNED AN EXEMPLARY RATING FROM TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY (TEA) for 2009-2010.  The results from the latest TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) tests, which is the barometer for school ratings in public schools in Texas, were recently released.  Lake Travis ISD earned an EXEMPLARY RATING, which is the highest rating a public school district and their respective campuses can achieve. In order for a district to achieve an Exemplary rating, at least 90 percent of the students tested must meet the passing standard for the subjects and grades tested.  Ratings also take into account long term completion rates and dropout rates. LTISD not only exceeded state standards on the TAKS test, the completion rate for all students was 98.5 percent...

The City of Lakeway TX is holding its own in the current market.  The below sales chart are the SOLDs from just the first two months of the third quarter. As you can see, Lakeway TX has home prices that fit almost everyone's budget, from the low $200's well past the $600's... there are million dollar properties in Lakeway TX, but none that have sold this quarter yet...  Look at that blue line... YIKES! Some are well above the chart, which is not good! Here's another view of Days on Market (DOM) broken down to the properties that have sold. Barbeques Galore is a new face in the Lake Travis TX area.  Unlike their sister store on Brodie Lane, the  Shops at the Galleria Lake Travis location includes a full size kitchen and indoor grill arena appropriately named, the Barbeques Galore Cooking Experience. The Barbeques Galore Cooking Experience is only available in two locations in the U.S., Austin and San Diego.
