As a long-time Keller resident (over 25 years) and a real estate agent, I feel compelled to advise the home-buying public of a situation specific to Keller and the Keller Independent School District. Although the Keller ISD encompasses the whole City of Keller, parts of Colleyville, parts of Southlake, parts of North Richland Hills, parts of Watauga, parts of Roanoke and parts of Fort Worth, only properties physically located within the city limits of Keller are eligible for Keller services and amenities. Memories through the Eyes of a Yankee Transplant THEN: It's hard to believe that 26 years ago this month, I first made a home in the sleepy little town of Keller, TX. With a population of under 5,000, Keller was a far cry from the thriving city it is today. Having been born and raised in New York City, it was a pleasant, albeit drastic, change to live on a country road lined with trees, horses, and cows. Actually, we moved to North Keller and had a house built on an acre with over 150 trees. There was, and still is a bar ditch and no sidewalk. Our neighbors were very welcoming, and we were nicknamed "the yanks". Moving from outside of Texas, we were unique in the Keller/Roanoke area of 1981.       My Mother-in-Law lives in a large three story multifamily Senior Living facility in Keller, Texas.  Recently there have been two fire alarms that required the residents to evacuate the building.  This experience was very hard on her because several of her friends are wheel chair bound and live on the upper levels and were unable to leave their apartments because the elevator does not function during a fire...This apartment facility is quite large.  It's only three stories high but there are several wings.  The apartment numbers are not easy to understand.  There is a sprinkler system, cement floors and heavy doors that will automatically close during a fire alarm.My first response to my mother-in-law was to help her understand that the building is new and is very well built and th... 07/01/2007
