Each year, new words are added to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.  Some of those words this year are "Air quotes", "Dirty Bomb",  and even "Edamame".  With all the mortgage controversies over the past few years, it's a wonder why it took so many years to get the word "Subprime" into the dictionary.  The official entry says it's an adjective and dates back to 1995: "1 : having or being an interest rate that is higher than a prime rate and is extended especially to low-income borrowers 2 : extending or obtaining a subprime loan " I find it interesting that even though the practice has been around since the mid-90's and foreclosure have been on the rise for the past couple of years because of subprime, that the word is just now ma... 07/07/2008

Did you know you can lock in your gas price and not pay for higher prices?  There is a new program, called MyGallons.com that allows you to prepay for gas at a locked in rate.  Can this be true?  On the service, it sure sounds like it.  I started reading all the Frequently Asked Questions, and it seems there is some tip toeing around some of the fees charged, and it seemed like, in my opinion, that if it's too good to be true... They even say that if you buy gas at a certain price and then prices drop, that you can have a refund of what you pre-purchased.  Interesting.  Why would they do that?  How are they making money?  They even suggest not to buy too much pre-purchased gas so in case gas prices drop, you can lock in at the new, lower rate... but wait, they said you could have a refu... 07/01/2008
