Boerne Middle School South hosted the Hill Country UIL Academic Tournament on Saturday, February 7, 2009.   The meet was highly competitive with 11 area middle schools in participation including Alamo Heights, Boerne North, Boerne South, Cibolo, Fair Oaks, Floresville, Fredericksburg, Medina Valley, Pleasanton, Poteet, and Uvalde.   The Boerne Schools excelled once again with Fair Oaks winning 1st place overall for the 6th grade level.  Boerne Middle School South dominated their competition earning 1st place overall for both the 7th and 8th grade levels.  My daughter, Anitza Martins earned 1st place in the 7th grade oral reading - poetry. With so many homes on the market today, it might be a good idea to take your camera so that you can remember the homes you visit!  Take notes during each home visit. Make notes about each one - write down the pros and cons.  Also, what are your first impressions about each one?  What is the school district like?  If you have dogs that will need to go out for regular walks, is the neighborhood accommodating for that?  Is there adequate parking?  Do your research to help weed out ones that will not make "the grade." Residential sales were down (but not by much) - 94% of last year’s sales. Lots and Acreage came in very low at 36% of last year’s sales. Commercial (Improved Properties) were 90% of last year’s sales. There were NO Farm & Ranch sales during the month of October in Boerne. The interesting piece of data: Even though the number of Residential Sales was down by 7, the Average Residential Sales Price rose from $323,850 in October, 2007 to$448,500 in October, 2008.
