After the Christmas break, as kids return to school, many parents are relieved to have a sense of normalcy. Last week, my granddaughter Beckett had an incredibly exciting experience attending a cooking class at Sur La Table, located in the Domain in Austin.Sur La Table is a fantastic store that not only caters to adults with cooking classes for couples and corporate groups but also provides a delightful culinary experience for kids. Beckett, who has a passion for baking and cooking, found this program to be a significant step up from other kids' classes she has taken elsewhere. What sets Sur La Table apart is its hands-on approach to teaching essential skills. The classes encourage active participation and provide an interactive learning environment. As a grandparent, I appreciate the sa...

As we reflect on the 2023 year-end sales in Canyon Creek, it's evident that the real estate market has undergone a significant shift, diverging from the media narrative of a nationwide downturn. While Canyon Creek’s housing market is anticipated to continue stabilizing in 2024, concerns persist regarding affordability. In the context of Canyon Creek, three pivotal questions dominate discussions:♦ Have we felt the effects of inflation? YES♦ Are properties lingering on the market for extended periods? YES♦ Are prices experiencing the rapid escalation witnessed in 2022? NOHaving observed the real estate pendulum swing over decades, it's my perspective that the market experienced a unique roller coaster ride in 2021 and 2022, reaching a point of relative calm in 2023. Prices decreased, but t...

Latest news on the Canyon Creek Real Estate market in November 2023….What you need to know now…..What it means for you…..The Canyon Creek Homes Sales for December 2023 reveal intriguing trends in the real estate market. Unlike the previous December, where buyers favored larger, fully renovated homes with pools, this year saw offers on a condo and a recently renovated smaller home. This shift resulted in a decline in sold prices, primarily attributed to the difference in property sizes (SF decreased by 46%).Despite the dip in prices, the market remains stable, reflecting a natural ebb and flow of the seasonal market rather than a decline. This dynamic suggests promising prospects for Canyon Creek's real estate market in the future. For potential buyers, the current scenario offers a favo...

Continuing a cherished tradition with my granddaughter Beckett post-Christmas, I've witnessed her unique fashion sense and tactile preferences. At the tender age of 9, she has a knack for touching and feeling fabrics before committing to any garment.Given the challenges of buying clothes for her – often resulting in returns – I decided to maintain a tradition by gifting her post-Christmas shopping spree with Nana (mommy included). This year's Christmas surprise once again included the invitation and cold, hard cash inside the box. Last Saturday, we enjoyed a fun lunch at Flower Child at The Domain, followed by a shopping spree at Beckett's chosen stores: Nordstrom's, Zara's, and Forever 21. Beckett, armed with her counted cash, took charge of her purchases with a confident flair and she...

Our holiday season was filled with joyous anticipation as we eagerly awaited a special announcement from my grandson. The culmination of our excitement came to fruition when Trey chose a unique and intimate moment to propose to his girlfriend.Despite our knowledge of the ring purchase and Liz's upcoming birthday dinner with her parents on Friday, December 22, Trey, being the understated individual he is, opted to proceed at his own pace. Embracing his desire for a private and personal moment, we respected his wishes while brimming with enthusiasm for the impending proposal. As Christmas Eve and Christmas Day unfolded without the anticipated moment, we decided it was best to quietly temper our enthusiasm and wait patiently. However, on Thursday, December 28th, at our picturesque Mount Bon...

I've previously shared about a Christmas tradition that Geno and I adopted some 19 years ago during our travels. We stumbled upon a German custom that piqued our interest, and it involved a festive pickle ornament. Enthralled by the idea, I brought a pickle ornament back from Germany and thus began the “pickle” tradition with our grandchildren. Here's how it unfolds: After the frenzy of unwrapping presents, the grandkids leave the room while we stealthily hide the pickle ornament somewhere on the Christmas tree (we've had to get quite creative, as these kids are expert  seekers). Once hidden, the kids return to the room, and the race is on to find the pickle. The first one to locate it the pickle ornament is rewarded with the final present of the day! Despite some research revealing tha...
