The Austin TREPAC Committee generously sponsored a very fun event with the purpose of providing support to TREPAC. Personally, I view the contributions made to TREPAC as strategic investments in the security of my profession.  TREPAC allows REALTORS® to be part of the discussion when laws are being drafted and because of the relationships we have built with decision makers over the years our real estate market remains strong! My NW Coldwell Banker office displayed incredible enthusiasm as we filled two tables to partake in the exhilarating DARE-E-OKE event!  Collectively, we made a unanimous decision – perfection wasn't a prerequisite. Instead, we encouraged one another to step out of our comfort zones and enjoy the experience to the fullest. It sounded like a party and indeed, that's p...

This past week marked a significant milestone for Handsome Hudson, my grandson! He has embarked on a much anticipated journey, as he participates in tackle football this year, through the respected Pop Warner Program. The excitement kicked off with the beginning of practices on Tuesday.   Hudson's dad, my son John Dunham, has been an inspiration of athleticism and dedication. As one of the coaches for Hudson's team, he's taken coaching training to heart. Back in his college days, he was an exceptional swimmer, showcasing unwavering commitment to his sport. Now, he continues to amaze us with his passion for giving back and his natural affinity for working with children. He appreciates the opportunity to instill a love for sports in young hearts and impart invaluable life lessons that tea...

Latest news on the Canyon Creek Real Estate market in July 2023….What you need to know now…..What it means for you…..  In May, there was a significant decrease in activity, leading to lower sales in June, (remember it takes 30-40 days for transactions to close). June, once school was out and more inventory came on-line, we observed a surge in homes going under contract, resulting in a substantial increase in closed sales for July, totaling an impressive 100% growth compared to the previous year.Looking ahead, we anticipate August to report promising numbers due to the contracts signed in July. September numbers will be down since August is historically a lull as people prepare for school and take last minute vacations. In today's market, precise pricing of homes holds paramount importan...

I anticipated that our stunning Northern European style home would generate significant interest and attract multiple offers, and I wasn't disappointed. From the very first day of showings, we experienced a remarkable level of activity and enthusiasm from potential buyers. Then, on the second day, my daughter (an amazing Realtor®), Melissa Stout, hosted an incredibly successful Open House, welcoming over 20 different families into the property. It was heartwarming to see some visitors returning after their initial showing, while others came on the recommendation of their realtors, and some simply dropped by after seeing the striking photographs on-line.  The warm and inviting ambiance of the home resonated with everyone who stepped through the door. It was clear that the unique combinat...

I know what family is. It’s laughing, It’s learning, It’s being “real” and being friends. And it will always be there, no matter what.My children (John and Melissa) organized a fantastic birthday dinner at the new Truluck's in downtown Austin. It was an evening filled with fun, laughter, great food, and wonderful company. What more could anyone ask for?     In times of triumph, our families are our biggest cheerleaders, celebrating our victories with unbridled joy. These moments of shared happiness strengthen the familial bond, making celebrations all the more meaningful. The essence of family lies in the profound connections that bind us together, creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime (some of the best pictures are the bloopers).   "Family is not an important thing. Whole Foods Market, now an iconic health foods grocer with a global presence, traces its roots back to Austin, where it all began. The journey of this renowned natural foods store is a fascinating tale of growth and innovation, with its flagship store standing tall at 525 N. Lamar Blvd., surrounded by notable establishments like Waterloo Records and Book People. The story began in 1978 when John Mackey and Renee Lawson founded a small natural foods store in Austin, naming it SaferWay. Two years later, SaferWay merged with Clarksville Natural Grocery, owned by Craig Weller and Mark Skiles, to form the foundation of what we know today as Whole Foods. In 1980, with a modest staff of 19, Whole Foods opened its doors on the 900 block of North Lamar Boulevard, marking the beginning of its jour...

My daughter, Melissa and I devoted our time to volunteer at the Central Texas Food Bank, collaborating with Austin Title for an afternoon shift in the bustling warehouse.  We always enjoy the experience of peeking behind the scenes, revealing the incredible process of how donated food reaches those in need within the community. Engaging in this act of service is always fun, as each time we never know precisely what tasks await for us. This volunteer opportunity included bagging carrots and potatoes, carefully portioned, into 10 pound bags, earmarked for immediate distribution.                           Remarkably, our combined efforts resulted in an astonishing 3,359 meals worth of food for individuals struggling and depending on such aid. Witnessing the immediate impact of our labor fo...

On Friday, we had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful lunch at Clark’s Oyster Bar located on 6th Street in Austin. This happens to be my son’s preferred seafood spot, and whenever he has a choice for his birthday lunch, he always chooses Clark’s. We (Melissa, John and I) were treated to this awesome dining experience by our Title Representative, who consistently goes above and beyond to show appreciation for our business.John and I savored some outstanding oysters (should have snapped a picture before devouring them)! Personally, I always opt for the mouthwatering lobster roll, served with delectable, sweet pickles and a side of yummy, mountain of thin potato fries. The jumbo prawns were delightful too! Clark’s fries are like golden treasures, crafted with love in their kitchen each a...

On Wednesday night, I made it a point to be present at both basketball games: one for Beautiful Beckett and the other Handsome Hudson’s team. The courts were conveniently located side by side, and Hudson’s game was particularly intense, as it was a highly anticipated rivalry match, both teams fiercely determined to emerge victorious. Despite Beckett and Hudson being delayed due to camp commitments, (dad was there to coach Hudson’s team) they managed to arrive just in time to join their respective teams. Remarkably, both games resulted in triumph, and the feeling of securing a decisive victory was exhilarating for everyone involved! “The only one who can tell you ‘you can’t win’ is you and you don’t have to listen.”—Jessica Ennis-Hill
