Lake Travis second lowest level since the drought in 1963 The lake that is fed by the Lower Colorado River by way of the Highland Lakes chain is more than 40 feet below average. The all-time low for Lake Travis was in August 1951, that's when the water was just 614 feet above sea level.   Friday morning, Lake Travis stood at just over 626 feet above sea level. That's the the third-lowest level in the history of the reservoir that supplies much of the drinking water for Austin and nearby communities.   As an Austinite I’ve seen our Lake Travis at it’s lowest, and it always rebounds and fills up with our Spring or Fall rains however we haven’t had the blessing of rain on our watersheds which help to replenish our Lake Travis in several years. Lake Travis serves as the primary flood contro...

Gary Albertson and wife, Sheri Albertson, who both work at Victory Medical Center in Southwest Austin, built a dream house in 2010 with an amazing view of Lake Travis. They love the house and plan to replicate the first floor when they move out to their ranch near Burnet. Gary Albertson, an allergist who grew up in Muleshoe, is heading toward retirement and wants to spend it on the ranch raising longhorns. He and his wife, a physical therapist, have put the 4,800-square-foot home on the market for $1.895 million with Carl Shurr of Realty Austin. The stone-façade home at 5004 Lakeview Drive, off RM 620 near Steiner Ranch, sits on a cliff overlooking a deep cove of Lake Travis. A tram takes the owners to their boat dock and lake, which the Albertsons say is regularly 120 feet deep. O...
