Now aviators can find the River Falls Fly-in development in Randall County, Texas.  It's a neighborhood in the widest skies and deepest depths of the Panhandle designed to appeal to those who love to fly.  The developer Tully Currie has kept many of the natural aspects of the 4,000 acres of his Randall County, Currie family ranch that's been in the family since the late 1800s. When standing on Farm-to-Market Road 1151, looking southward, the only cut you will see is in the prairie flat rim of the River Falls development.  It is a long area that's been bulldozed for a future runway.  And beyond the south end of the runway lies a large piece of Palo Duro Canyon, where the River Falls residential lots lay.  River Falls residential lots will start for $30,000 and top off around $500,000.  T...

As the 2010 United States Census is now upon us, Amarillo, Texas is still in need of 2,000 part-time workers.  The hours are flexible, positions will vary, and it's great part-time work for anyone who needs extra money.  The pay starts at $8.00/hr and tops out at $24.00/hr depending on the position you're hired for. The 2010 United States Census will soon arrive to every household in America through the mail this month.   And it's very important to fill yours out and send it back in.  But for those who do not send their Census back, Census workers will set out on foot to gather the much needed information. To work for the Census office, you have to complete a short test first.  There will be a testing event held in Amarillo at the Region 16 building at Hillside and Bell Street on Tuesda...

A Temporary cool down in the weather may spell a temporary cool down in real estate activity....or not!  Some price ranges still have good activity but looking at the statistics for inventory and days on the market doesn't look real promising if you're trying to sell!   So, how do you sell in this market?  First, you must get a real estate professional who is familiar with the market....not just the guy or gal that answered the phone at the first real estate office you called!  An agent who knows the market, activity, inventory will better be able to price your home correctly to get it sold!  Second!  Get realistic about the current value of your home!  True Amarillo homes have not taken a beating like the rest of the country, but they aren't exactly hopping off the proverbial shelf eit...

The weather in the Panhandle of Texas appears to be warming up!  None too soon! The real estate market spring upswing has been somewhat delayed, probably due to the snow!  I don't know about you, but I'm sick of snow!  I used to say, "If I want snow I'll go to IT! In don't want it coming to me!"  Well, this year has been quite an eye opener for me!  Now I don't even want to go to IT!!  I'm truly sick of it!!  I don't know how you guys in the cold frigid north handle it!  YUK!!  I'm so ready for spring and warmer weather.  Looks like we'll have 70's the rest of this week and most of next week!  Lovin' that!!  Maybe we'll see a bit of an uptick in the real estate market here!  I'm hoping!  Come to Amarillo and call us!  We'll be happy to show you homes in the ranges and styles you desire!!

I just listed a beautiful home in Lake Tanglewood here in the panhandle of Texas!  This home was just completed last year (2009) and is a premier location on the lake!  If you want El Primo, this is it!  What you'll get for only $1.7mil is THE best view, THE best waterfront property on the entire lake! No kidding!  From either of the 3 rear decks overlooking the lake you'll be able to see nearly the full length of the lake!  Makes for some pretty awesome viewing any time of day or night!  You could be grilling outside in the gourmet outdoor kitchen on the second floor deck while watching just about everything else that's going on across the lake!  This home is located on the deep end of the lake at the south end of South Shore Drive on "The Circle"!  There isn't enough time or space to ...

Having been in the real estate business for quite some time now, I know how hard it can be to find a great realtor to refer to. Don't hesitate to refer to us here at The Taylor Team!  $13,000,000 in production annually.  Generally carry 20 to 30 listings at any one time.  We work very hard and treat our clients like family!  Each referral is shown around town before we ever look at any houses.  We think it is so important for the client to get a feel for the various neighborhoods and get a general feel for the layout of the town BEFORE they buy ANYTHING!  Refer to us.  You'll be glad you did.  806.433.6889    johnny@thetaylorteam.info

It is an awesome opportunity to see students in my local community get awards for their hard work and efforts.  Recently, there were a few local Amarillo, Texas and surrounding area students who were given good citizen awards and scholarships. The Esther McCrory of Daughters of the American Revolution is promoting these scholarships through their annual Good Citizen Awards program. Students had to write essays on their American heritage and their responsibility for preserving it: "What is the Greatest Challenge We Face in America Today?" Every high school in the Amarillo area was invited to submit their most deserving senior's essay.  Schools that participated this year included Amarillo High, Canyon High, Palo Duro High, Randall High, Caprock High, Tascosa High and Claude High schools....

Even though Lake Tanglewood real estate seems to be coming back to life, the COLD weather has a tendancy to put a bit of a damper on it!  Homes at Lake Tanglewood range in value from the high $100's  for off-water properties to as much as $1.6 million for some of the waterfront properties.  If you're in the market to buy or sell a home at Lake Tanglewood, it's important to contact the Tanglewood Team at www.TanglewoodTeam.com .  The three Realtor associates on the Tanglewood Team all live at the lake and know all the intricacies about Lake Tanglewood living.  It's snowing outside today, but once it warms up outside, give us a call and come on out!  We can show you around the lake and show you homes that are on the market and some of our hip pocket listings that only our team has access ...

There's a new health clinic in downtown Amarillo that recently opened up.  The operators of the High Plains Clinic call it the only primary care office in Center City.  However, there is another High Plains Clinic in Amarillo, Texas. The clinic will be aiming to provide a medical home for patients who don't have a regular doctor or who can't find a physician who is taking new patients or who accepts Medicare. The clinic will serve over 600 Park Central Retirement Community residents along with those who live and work around downtown Amarillo. The High Plains Clinic can be found on the campus of Park Central Retirement Community at 11400 S. Van Buren St.  They will be open from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Ponds can be a great addition for any backyard and many homeowners like the idea of the tranquil addition of a pond.  But often, the idea of adding a pond to your yard can be slightly overwhelming.  However, with these simple guidelines, your dream pond can be a reality in no time. The hardest part may be deciding which style pond will work best for your lifestyle or personal taste.  There are several popular choices such as fish ponds, plant ponds, waterfall ponds, combination ponds and much more.  Each one will need its very own planning with specific features in mind.  Usually, there are five basic components to create a flourishing pond: * A good pond liner is needed to begin your project.  Liners are a great way to create custom ponds and water gardens.  A liner of at least 45 mill...

There are too many people each year that truly need the help of the Empty Stocking Fund in Amarillo, and this year is no exception.  Each story is unique in its very own way.  Therefore, when I came across one story in particular, I felt the need to mention it in my blog. Two sisters from Amarillo, Texas are in need this holiday season.  Health problems plague them both, and it is up to them to take care of one another.  One sister is bound to her wheelchair while the other is no longer able to work due to circulatory problems and diabetes.  One sister's medication runs over $100 a month and the other sister's medication runs just over $50 a month.  These two combined take a big chunk out of their Social Security.  And, since they don't have any family in Amarillo, they are completely d...

Great stories like this just have to be shared.  There's a very happy man from Happy waking up in a brand new home worth $185,000 that he won in a raffle drawing at the Big Texan Steak Ranch on Sunday night. Farmer and rancher, Dudley McNeill is the new owner of a beautiful 1,775 square foot home in the City of Amarillo, Texas.  Mr. McNeill got the news over the phone since he was unable to attend the drawing, but never-the-less it was great news to him.  The home was raffled off as part of a fundraiser for the international Myelin Project, which does research for cures of demyelinating diseases along with promoting education about them. The home is a brand new 1,775 square foot, three-bedroom, two-bathroom dream for many who paid their $50 to get a chance to win.  The raffle sold $150,...

Just over three years ago, one of the schools in the Amarillo, Texas area was becoming extremely over crowded and, to keep up their good education image in the community, the Panhandle Independent School District decided to build a new school to help relieve the population of the other and to do renovations on the other school to update it.  Now, over 650 students in the Panhandle ISD are using the much needed new school facilities a year ahead of time. Students will no longer have to walk from their classrooms to the gym or library in the cold because of the new enclosed walkway.  And, they won't have to rush through lunch anymore because there are now two cafeterias to accommodate all the students. All 110+ band students will no longer have to rub shoulders in the band hall.  They now...

Recently, I have discovered that many areas in Amarillo have dedicated themselves to enhancing their attractions so their visitors can get the best experience possible.  And now, these major additions and new touches have really increased value all over Amarillo.  Therefore, I have taken time to compile a list of these wonderful enhancements to Amarillo in my blog. The Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum has come out with three fun new programs to help their visitors find their way across the state's largest history museum.  Visitors can play PPHM Bingo at 10:30 a.m. each weekday.  Family members actually compete with one another in a game of discovery and speed.  They can play Chat with a Curator at 3:30 p.m. each week day, where visitors will get to meet a different curator everyday an...

Many people travel through downtown Amarillo daily and don't realize how much history they are missing.  However, with a handy guide and a careful eye, everyone can enjoy a stroll through downtown Amarillo and see that the city contains more than just tall buildings. When one sets out on foot through the streets of downtown Amarillo, you see it and experience it very differently.  All you have to do is slow down and take the time to pay attention to the details. Polk Street alone contains nine sites of history.  Therefore, I am taking advantage of my blog to list some of these sites as a guide for anyone interested in discovering Amarillo's downtown history for themselves. High Plains Public Radio is located at 500 S. Polk St.  It was built in 1902 by Stafford Lightburne.  This is the o...

Because of the Swine Flu scare (aka H1N1), there has been discussion of cancelling the Greater Southwest Music Festival.  However, the organizers of the event have decided to keep the event scheduled as planned.  This is great news for many middle and high school musicians throughout the area that come for the musical competition.  The festival will proceed on May 6th, 7th and 8th as planned. The organizers of the festival have decided to keep the event on schedule since so many pieces are already in place.  The trophies are ready, the plane tickets have been purchased for the judges and the venues have been booked.  The Amarillo Civic Center cannot be booked again for awhile, as well.  It is booked until June. Some of the smaller schools have already opted out of participating in the e...
