It was 23 years ago when I first set foot in this Allen landmark.  Not much has changed in all that time.  Honestly the place looked dated back then.  Today the pictures on the wall, the floor tiles and the old ceiling fans are the same as they were.  I do remember that they were the last restaurant in town to ban smoking but I think that just happened 10 yrs or so ago.  If you grew up in Allen like I did you remember MaBo Chinese food located at Bethany and Highway 5.  Back in my high school days there were 2 Chinese food places and the other buffet always seemed to change hands on a yearly basis.  MaBo has survived in that strip center for all this time outlasting computer stores, pet shops, office supply stores and every other business under the sun that has disappeared from around i...

Credit Card DO's and DON'Ts -- Common Credit Card Mistakes In today's lending environment, you have to have established credit in order to get approved for a mortgage.  Unfortunately, the easiest way to establish a credit history and add to your score is through credit cards.  So, if you've got a pocket full of plastic, there are some DO's and DON'Ts you should always remember about credit cards.DON'Ts: Use your credit card to buy things you can't afford -- It is always best to save for the items you want to buy, or if necessary purchase on an installment loan. Use a credit card to make everyday purchases -- This is a habit that leads to debt without knowing how you go there, and nothing to show for it.  The only time when you should make everyday purchases on a credit card is when you ...

The attached February market report for Allen is a year over year comparison of 2009 to 2010. * The median price for houses sold was $192,375. * The average days on market for homes sold was 70 days. * The average days on market for homes for sale was 84 days. * 63 houses sold vs. a total of 543 houses for sale. However, the median price that homes actually sold for was $192,375. That's a discrepancy of $32,525. This calculation indicates that homes sold for $32k+ less than what the home owner may have wanted it to sell for. This is an important statistic to keep in mind if you are looking to sell your ho...

Good to see efforts that support green movements. Cities like San Antonio and Austin with their "Buy Green Drive Clean" programs have perks for Hyrbid owners that I've always coveted, here in the Big-D. While shopping at Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm this weekend (located just up the road in booming Allen Texas), I parked the car and saw the below sticker on the parking meters. Thank you to the City of Allen for it's green-driver support!

Great News!  Jobs and More jobs seem to be offered in Collin County and in our base town of Allen!  San Jose, California based Cisco Systems Inc. announced earlier this June they will build a 140,000- to 160,000-square foot data center just north of Stacy Rd in Allen on the west side of Central Expressway (75013 Zip Code).  The new facility, which is set to begin construction the first part of next year, will employ over 100 full-time and contract workers.  This news boads well for Allen Real Estate. Cisco will spend $500 million on the new facility and will receive incentives such as tax abatements, assistance with construction of a new road adjacent to their site and a contribution to infrastructure costs related to the project, said Robert Winningham, economic director and CEO of the...

1.  Stage your precious gem of a home Something as little as an odd colored wall of paint in the dining room can steer homebuyers out of your house as quick as you can say "Wait!"  Now the best way to avoid this is to Stage, Stage, Stage.  Sellers with staged homes end up with an average of 6.3% more than those sellers that do not stage their homes.  Plus, staged homes end up selling in half the time!  What seller doesn't like these statistics?  The easiest and most dramatic change includes a fresh and neutral coat of paint.  This will instantly change the look and feel of your home.  Other options include adding plants and greenery, hanging paintings on the walls, changing out fixtures, and adding furniture which utilizes the space better.  I know you are probably thinking, "I don't ha...

Allen real estate can be a very interesting project for you and your family.  As in some areas Allen is growing and in other areas there seems to be a small decline.  However, in the grand scheme of things I think that Allen homes for sale are a great purchase right now.  If you can get the loan for the property I reccomend that you purchase the property.   I also would reccomend that you take the help of one of your Allen Realtors with you.  They will help you and guide you along the grapevine of a real estate purchase.  They are free for you to use and you would be stupid if you didnt use one.  The city of Allen is a fairly new one considering how long Dallas has been around for.  Allen, Tx Real Estate also boasts some great residents that earn a good income.  The median income per re...
