Lynn Spruill was Addison's Mayor from 1988 to 1992. Now a city park in the Fairfield development in the Addison Circle area will be named for the former Mayor.  The Town Council recently authorized the start of construction, scheduled to begin in mid-February. The park will cover 1.57 acres and will have a pavillion structure, benches, special paving, a drinking fountain, lighting, landscaping and irrigation.  The following streets will bound the park: Morris, Ringo, Artist Way, and Goodman. If you live in one of the single family homes in the Midway Meadows subdivision in Addison, Texas here's a heads up for you: After a successful National Night Out party in the fall, the committe is back at work planning the next block party.  Put Sunday, April 19th on your calendars, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm (or until we get kicked out of Dome Park). The Town of Addison is having a coat drive*.   Drop off your new, or gently used coats at the Addison Athletic Club  by January 14 (Wednesday).   We all have coats that we no longer want - so let's put them to a good use.  You have until Wednesday, January 14 to donate them - they will be taken to Metrocrest Social Services.   *This coat drive is a part of a Metrocrest Challenge competition that is going on.  Let's all pitch in to help the Town of Addison Employees in this contest. 01/09/2009

Addison Pacesetters (the 50+ group) meet the first Wednesay of each month at Dunn Bros. Coffeehouse on Beltline Road and learn about the Town of Addison.  This month, Mr. Robin Jones, head of the Addison Streets Department, part of Public Works, spoke to us. Here are some interesting tidbits from his presentation: There are approximately 1675 single family residence homes in Addison 150 public streets 35 intersections with traffic signals approximately 2300 street signs The streets department is responsible for garbage collection, recycling, street lighting (but not in the parks), storm drainage and hazardous waste. Mario Canizares, Assistant City Manager for the Town of Addison, has accepted the position of Deputy City Manager in Coppell.  He will be starting with Coppell on January 8th. To thank him for his service in Addison, there will be a reception in his honor at Town Hall on Monday, January 5th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. City Manager, Ron Whitehead, stated "Our mission was to create a growth opportunity that would allow Mario to be ready for this kind of move, but it is always difficult to let them go.  He is ready and he will do an excellent job for Coppell." 01/01/2009
