The on-again off-again rain last Sunday did not deter the residents of Addison's Midway Meadows subdivision.  Despite the damp and wind, about 100 of us used the shelter of the tents to get to know our neighbors.  The live music along with subs from Jimmy Johns lightened our spirits and filled our tummies. Addison Police, Fire & EMS personnel joined us. Koby, our K-9 pup, and his handler provided a demonstration, and an Addison police officer on his Segway zigged and zagged through the crowd. Several members of the Addison Town Council were also in attendance.  All in all, a good time was had by everyone, despite the weather!

I often run across people looking for foreclosure homes.   What I have found is that most foreclosures in this part of the metroplex are great to buy, fixup and live in for a few years.  Rare is the one I find that has enough room to flip.  To be able to flip properties most good investors will need to buy at about 50% of the ARV to have enough room for closing costs, rennovations, holding costs, and closing costs again on the sell side.   We purchased foreclosure homes ourselves and we've help many clients buy HUD foreclosures, bank REOs, and other foreclosures.   Here is a list of the foreclosures in Addison currently on the market as of 4/21/2010.    For a current list, just send us an email and we'll send you the latest updates.   Act quickly on these homes.  They often get lots of ...

If you're looking for Indian food in the Dallas area, try the "casual Indian restaurant" Masala Wok in Addison, Texas.  Located on the southwest corner of Belt Line Road and Quorum, Masala Wok features Indian and Indo-Chinese dishes.  The food is fresh and made to order, prepared with fresh ground spices, vegetables and meat. I had dinner there a few weeks ago and will definitely be going back.  The Chicken Korma Masala was tasty and very reasonably priced at $8.49.  It is listed under Signature Dishes on the menu.  The nan (bread) was a little on the dry side, but I used it to sop up the korma sauce - yum! In addition to the Signature Dishes at Masala Wok, there are menu entries under the following categories: Masala Kabobs, Wraps & Biryani Wok Entries Rice & Noodle Bowls Starters Dess...

Counting (On) You - Part III - Counting Every Person in Addison, TX in the 2010 Census. You count!  Before April 1, 2010, make sure you are counted! Part I covered the requirement of conducting the 2010 Census and the formation of the Addison, Texas Complete Count Committee. Part II discussed the 5 key steps to counting everyone in the U.S. In this, Part III,  let's look what the Addison Complete Count Committee is doing and why, to make sure that Addison is accurately counted so that it gets its fair share of the $400 billion allocation of federal funds to communities. Addison has been deemed to be a "hard to count" community because 10 years ago for the 2000 Census, Addison had a return mail-in rate of only 43%.  Of the 15,000 or so households in Addison, about 20% are single family h...

Super 8 Motel in Addison Wants P&Z Variance. If you live near Midway Road and Beltway in Addison Texas, you are probably aware of the Super 8 motel that sits behind Jaxx Steakhouse.  Be advised that the owner of the Super 8 has requested that the Planning & Zoning Commission allow a tower to be built atop the hotel so that he can display signage on all sides of the tower.  Specifically, he is proposing an amendment to an Addison ordinance to allow a change in building height above 35 feet.   A public hearing on the matter is being held by the Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday, January 28, at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Addison Town Hall, 5300 Belt Line Road. Homeowners in the Towne Lake Townhomes to the west of the motel are opposed to the variance and plan to attend t...

High Tea at Chocolate Angel. Twenty two Addison Pacesetters spent an enjoyable afternoon last Friday at Chocolate Angel, a delightful restaurant in Richardson, Texas.  High Tea included finger sandwiches, scones with cream, and a delicious assortment of dessert delicacies, not to mention a variety of teas.  We rode in style in a minibus with an interior fitted out like a limo. Addison Pacesetters are those members of the Addison Athletic Club (available to anyone living in the Town of Addison for a one-time $10 fee) who are 50+.  Contact Deena Hermes at the AAC, 972-450-7048, for the Pacesetter monthly schedule of events. The Chocolate Angel is located at 635 W. Campbell Road in Richardson, Texas.

Addison homes for understanding are great artefact to invest in the Dallas area actual estate market right now. As the Dallas area becomes hotter and hotter as more and more areas around the land are losing and have lost so much on their housing markets. Not to menton that addison actual estate is a great buy, because more and more jobs seem to be opening up in the Addison area. This being said more and more grouping are going to follow the jobs, and move into the Addison area to live. Right now Addison homes are very inexpensive and not going to blackball you in the pocketbook. Yes a actual estate investment in most often the most expensive purchase you will ever have, but compared to another high end areas of Dallas this area is still not out of question for most. For more info on Dal...

Art Imitates Life at Addison WaterTower Theatre's Laughter on the 23rd Floor. Conan O'Brien may be getting the boot from NBC, much the same way the fictional character Max Prince is dismissed by NBC in Neil Simon's play Laughter on the 23rd Floor.  Set in 1953, the production centers around Max, the  funniest comedian on televison, and his writers. Laughter on the 23rd Floor is based on Simon's days of writing for Sid Caesar's TV gig, Your Show of Shows and the characters are based on real people: Character: Based on: Kenny Franks Larry Gelbart Val Slotsky Mel Tolkin Brian Doyle Michael Stewart (playwright) Milt Fields Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks Carol Wyman Selma Diamond Ira Stone Woody Allen Harry Prince Dave Caesar (Sid's brother) Laughter on the 23rd Floor is running through February...
