The Jonhson's Stand was one of the earliest settlements in Cumberland County. Mr. Robert Johnson brought his wife and three sons in 1800 and in 1806 they built a log building that was used as an Inn. The Johnson's stand when built bordered four counties. Overton, White, Fentress and Morgan Counties. It was not until Cumberland County was formed by the Legislative Act in 1855 that the Johnson's Stand became part of Cumberland County. The Inn built by the Johnson's is one of the oldest houses in Cumberland County. At over 150 years old the old log building only shows a chimney of what is left of this old house. The Inn became a well known hotel for travelers. Parents visiting a youth camp known as Camp Nakanawa would also lodge at the Inn. Camp Nakanawa is still operating today and childr...

HAPPY EASTER Crossville, TN !! If your home is like mine you woke up this morning with the kids sneaking much candy out of their Easter Baskets. My kids are really funny around the Holidays. For some reasons they think we go deaf the morning of and cannot hear the wrappers of the candy creating the "crunchy" sound. My little one who is 6 swears, "No, Mommy, I wasn't eating candy" and yet his lips, teeth, mouth and tongue send off a glare of rainbow colors with pastels such as blue, green, red and yellow. So unless he ate the shell to the egg we colored the night before...he was definitely eating candy ! Easter is a lot like Halloween in the since that it is nothing other than candy-mania !From chocolate bunnies and ghouls to Jelly Beans and Lollipops the sugar acts like a home nestled in...

I know there has been several post and blogs about THE SECRET here on ActiveRain. This being said, there is a very good reason for it. Those who have listened to these CD's or read the book want to spead the word, for they have just went through a berakthrough in their life. The message is simple. It reminds us how to be positive. Life brings some struggle and we all have made choices we regret. This might hold some of us back or lead us on a path of worry. The Secret reminds you to let it go. Stay positive no matter what the situation! I encourage those who have not experienced this strong message to do so. I recommend purchasing the cd's and listen to them in your car. The Secret was a recent birthday gift from three associates of mine. Buying their birthday gifts this year will be ...
