Tuesday is Agent Open House Day for the Sumter Board of Realtors.  August 20, 2013 proved to be an interesting Open House Day.   The Open Houses are normally in many of the larger more popular subdivisions, but with only one exception this week the homes were in subdivisions not visited as often with the Open House Tours.  Below is a list of some of the properties:   3840 Oleander Drive, Sumter, SC – In Wintergreen, which is one of the popular subdivisions due to its close location to the base.  This 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath home backs up to wooded berm area.  The home features a laundry room and a half bath.  Two and a half bath homes are uncommon in this price range and with a price of $144,900 for 1725 square feet, this home is a GREAT DEAL!   Spring in South Carolina is blooming all around us.  I love this time of year.  Probably a lot of this love comes from being raised in Michigan and waiting impatiently for the messy nasty snow of late winter to melt bringing us the summer.  I remember one trip to Georgia at Easter when I was young.  The thing that struck me about the trip was the beautiful flowers that were in bloom in everyone’s yards.  Gorgeous waves of flowers covering bushes and in every direction.  My mom said they were azaleas and even she talked about them for years.       Azaleas have been a staple in the southern climates since the early 1800’s.  One of the oldest collections of azaleas is found at Magnolia Plantation near Charleston, SC.  Azaleas, while having a short lived blooming season, are absolutely on...

Cypress Park is located in on North Wise Drive.  The area is partially developed with a Caterpillar plant also a former UPS facility.  When you drive off Wise Drive you would never realize it though.  The area is wooded and has a beautiful pond with a walking trail around it.     It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk around the entire pond and that is taking time to stop and take pictures and admire the reflection of the trees in the water.   The walking trail around the pond is part of the Cypress Trail which is a completed loop of 5 miles with parking and rest rooms available in Cypress Park and Dillon Park.  The trail is available for hiking or mountain bike riding.       Cypress Trail Map and Information
