On Saturday night we decided to run some errands including a stop at Harris Teeter for some groceries just in case it snowed.  As soon as we walked into Harris Teeter we thought there was a party going on and we were crashing it.  There were people everywhere and the excitement and electricity wasn't over the anticipated snow, but it was over coupons! It was crazy and I can only describe it as a coupon party going on.  Women, and men, were stopped in the aisles talking about the various coupons in their possession, the triple couple deals, the various ways to organize coupons and they even were carrying on these discussions with calculators in hand.  Talk about a serious sport, these folks were coupon serious.  I was blown away by how much money I heard these people talked about saving ...

If you are looking for a unique and one of a kind restaurant then check out Michael’s Rock Hill Grille.  Michael’s offers a menu that will satisfy any appetite whether large or small.  The casual atmosphere will give diners the sensation they are in the islands and the relaxing feel of the restaurant is pleasing whether having an intimate dinner for two or a larger gathering.  Menu items include salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes, succulent steaks, fabulous chicken dinners, seafood extraordinaire and so much more.  The prices for the quantity and quality of food served to diners are unbelievable starting at $6.99 and up to $22.95.  The owners, Mike and Elizabeth, work hard to ensure the dining experience is top notch and the food is unmistakably the best that Rock Hill has to offer.  Mic...

Hard to believe we are heading into the holidays and another year is quickly coming to a close.  Along with holiday preparations this is the perfect time of year to contact your insurance agent and review your homeowners insurance policy.  Many times we take out insurance, but we never take the time to review our policy to make sure we have the right coverage for any changes that may have occurred.  Keep in mind that any renovations, upgrades, additions and so forth that you make to your home should be communicated to your insurance agent so that those items are covered under your policy.  The worst thing that can happen is to have an unfortunate event such as a fire and then you discover you never updated your policy and all the expenses are not going to be covered.  With the end of t...

I have a new listing in Rock Hill, SC. I went to take new pictures, video, virtual tour and inspect for the first time what the seller had done to the house since we first put it on the market a couple weeks back. At the last minute she decided to paint the exterior, build a new deck and replace a couple features on the interior. I decided that it needed all new presentation on the web.  713 Pinebough video 713 Pinebough Lane Rock Hill, SC MLS 939065 $179,700 I drove up to my listing with just enough time to take my pictures, video etc to make it to my next appointment. A buyer pulled up just as I was about to start video taping. As a real estate expert my primary job is to get my listings sold. It only takes one buyer and who knows, this guy just might be that one buyer. Turns out he i...

During the summer months there is nothing better in the evenings than a special treat of ice cream.  In Rock Hill one of our favorite spots to take the family for a sweet treat is PW’s ice cream located on Herlong Avenue about 1/2 mile from Piedmont Medical Center.  PW’s features homemade ice cream in a number of flavors, but they have many specialties that you don’t find in many places.  My family in particular loves the Concrete which is a delicious concoction of ice cream with special items such as Oreo cookies, Butterfinger, Snickers, M&Ms and so forth mixed in.  The ice creams are killer with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream scooped in at the end to keep in nice and thick.  Their specialty sundaes feature a number of items sure to please any craving.  Don’t forget their ice cream ...

This time of year with the weather turning warm we all start thinking about shorts and bathing suits and how are we going to lose weight in a hurry.  At least that is how I think.  It is all about making healthy and better choices and I have to share with you what we discovered today.  After church we went to Jersey Mike's at Winthrop Commons on Cherry Road.  The folks that work there are awesome and we were greeted as we walked in the door and asked if we wanted to try a new discovery.....low carb pizza.  The guys said about 4 days ago they were trying to think of something new to offer to customers so they started playing around with this idea.  OMG!  It was delicious.  It is a really thin crust pizza and they actually use their wrap bread as the crust.  You can get a 12″ 1 topping p...

I love springtime and this time of year Rock Hill is just spectacular!  The flowers are blooming and everything is green and fresh and new.  Next week we will begin a 10 day celebration of spring with our annual Come See Me Festival.  This is the 46th annual Come See Me Festival and when the festival started it was a way for residents to show off their town and all that Rock Hill has to offer.  There are great events such as the Beach Bash, Gourmet Gardens, Moonlight Jazz, Mayor's Frog race and so much more.  Rock Hill is becoming more known by folks and it is a great town to live and raise a family.  We are only 3 hours from the beach and 2 hours from the mountains so getting around is super easy.  Rock Hill is growing yet still maintains the quaintness of a small town yet we are conv...

If you are looking for paradise right here in Rock Hill then look no further than the neighborhood of Sunset Pointe. Sunset Pointe is located on the banks of Lake Wylie and offers a neighborhood that is soothing, scenic and social. Sunset Pointe has beautifully constructed homes that range in size from 2000 sq ft up to 4000 sq ft with prices starting in the low $200s. The neighborhood has the feel of being outside of the hussle and bussle of Rock Hill, however, you are only minutes away from I 77, with a short commute to Charlotte , NC not to mention shopping, grocery stores, the hospital and a number of schools. This is a quiet and close knit neighborhoods where the residents take pleasure in enjoying the outdoors and the many amenities including a neighborhood pool and beach area. If...

As we meet more and more people that move into the area people will ask us our favorite spots to eat for hotdogs, Chinese, pizza and so forth.  My family loves to eat so there are times to easily agree to finding the best of the best and then there are times we have our own opinions.  Beginning this week we are going to highlight once a week a favorite spot for various dishes and we want to hear from you as well.  This is how to share and spread the word and we hope we hear from you too.  To get us started this week this is the great debate......best place in Rock Hill to get a hotdog.  Talk about a family feud this question results in lively conversation in our household.  Tubby's, Kinch's and Ebenezer Grill are definitely at the top of the list, but since I am writing this blog I have...

The Come-See-Me is one of Rock Hill’s signature events. It has been ranked in the South’s Top 20 Spring Festivals for numerous years and has been featured in Southern Living magazine twice. The festival’s mascot , “Glen the Frog,” was created by nationally-acclaimed illustrator Vernon Grant, a Rock Hill resident who also created the Rice Krispies gnomes, “Snap, Crackle, and Pop®.”                   This year’s ten-day Come-See-Me Festival will be held from April 15th—April 24th. It will feature a wide variety of activities, many of which will be held in Old Town. A sampling of these activities includes: ♦ Chalk on Main. April 16th, 4:30pm to 7:30pm.   One of the most sought after neighborhoods in all of Rock Hill is the Heathwood Subdivision.  Heathwood is located close to Winthrop University off of India Hook Road and has been one of the most desirable neighborhoods in all of Rock Hill for years.  The homes all possess their own unique characteristics and the lots are large and filled with mature trees and plantings.  The homes in Heathwood are of the finest construction and as many folks will tell you they have "good bones".  Many homes in Heathwood are being updated and renovated as new owners are moving in and with the pride neighbors take in their homes it helps maintain Heathwood as one of the "must live in" areas in all of Rock Hill.  Homes start in the low $200s and go up to well over $500k.  Heathwood is such a livable nei...
