This anachronistic stone castle, called the Gassaway Mansion is one of Greenville’s most astonishing buildings. This building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and strangely blends several architectural styles. It was built between 1920 and 1924 by Walter and Minnie Gassaway for $ 790,000 and was composed in part of stones gathered in 1919 from the old Vardy McBee grits mill. The grits mill was located in downtown Greenville along the Reedy River and dates back to 1776. Additional stones were brought in and were treated to match. Downtown Greenville's Main Street trees will be undergoing a renovation. The city has determined that the Main Street trees need some attention. Some are growing into the sidewalks, some have mistletoe invasions, some need a hair cut, while a few need to be taken out and replaced with more appropriate species. Safety tips for FSBO's: • For your own safety, never set an appointment with anyone to see your home unless they have given you their name and number and you have called back to verify that number. An easy way to do this is to say. "Let me check with my husband/wife/daytimer for the best time and I will call you back." • Never let potential buyers know your schedule. Don't ever tell them when you won't be at home, when your spouse won't be home, when you pick up the kids, when you work, when you will be on vacation, etc. • Never give a caller information about your home's security such as deadlock bolts, security systems, and so forth. • Always have a back-up plan when you allow strangers into your home, especially if you have children. You might be surprised at what you see!   Here is the average sold price chart. Potential sellers, now is the time to get your home sold because we have knowledge of the current market. View our commission structure that benefits you, the seller!   Which year has a higher sold average for days on market then 2008? Take a pick and see if you are right.   How many units sold in 2008? If you like college baseball, you may be able to sample the ACC tournament in downtown Greenville at Fluor Field - 2011 through 2013.  Those dates are up for grabs and the competition is fierce between Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Jacksonville, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem.  Jacksonville has long hosted the tournament, but the next two years will see it in Raleigh and Boston (Fenway Park) respectively.  Look for more on the decision in May. Fluor Field has flourished since it opened in 2006 in downtown Greenville SC. It copies Fenway Park in Boston. It has a "Green Monster" which is a 30 foot high wall in left field with a manual scoreboard.
