Mortgage rates climb higher for three consecutive weeks and have reached the highest level in a year as reported in the weekly mortgage market survey by Freddie Mac. The rate reached an averaged 3.81% on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage. It is higher by .06 compared to the average rate of 3.75 last year. The average 15-year fixed mortgage increased to 2.98% and the 5-year adjustable-rate mortgage jump to 2.66%. Mortgage rates are climbing! Given that people mostly choose financing to buy homes, low mortgage rates are always a good sign for homebuyers, it means they have more purchasing power.
