How to Choose a Listing Agent   Whengetting ready to list your Greenville, SC home, the listing agent you choose is a very important decision. There are many factors to consider when choosing an agent who will sell your home quickly and for the top dollar.     Pricing - If you are looking for an agent to list your home at a high purchase price and charge a lower commission than average, it probably will not be in your best interest and may cost you more money in the long run. There are many underlying factors that affect the way a home sells. Pricing a home too high could risk long delays in finding buyers, which means a lot of lost revenue while the house sits idle on the market. Not to mention the longer a home is on the market, the more likely a buyer is to place a low-ball offer.   ...

Economic News in Review Greenville SC Here is last week’s economic news in review Greenville SC. The January jobs report offered a mixed bag of employment news, while consumer credit for December posted its biggest gain in 10 months, according to last week’s economic headlines. January Employment The most positive way to spin January’s job performance was that it was a “glass half-full, or glass half-empty” scenario. While the month’s employment rate marked a five-year low, the number of new jobs was lackluster. The economy added just 113,000 non-farm jobs in January, putting the unemployment rate at 6.6 percent, which was slightly down from December’s 6.7 percent rate, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last week. All in all, 10.2 million Americans were unemployed, according to th...

For Sale By Owners or FSBO may sound easy and look attractive for sellers who want to save money on agent commission, but is it really the right choice for you? Should you sell the property by yourself? Before you even decide, take into consideration the challenges you have to face when you are already in the selling process.   These are the factors you have to consider when planning an FSBO: Shell out money on staging and photos. To prepare your home for the market, you may have to hire professional stager and photographer. You have to remember that this will help sell your home faster. A property that is poorly staged and photograph might take longer to sell. If you will go in the traditional sale route, your real estate agent will take care of this for you without a charge.   Exposur...

Mortgage Rates and Affordability Outlook Greenville SC Signs are pointing to 2014 as the year home purchases make a comeback. Refinancing has been down since Q3 2013 as most people who were interested in a refi took advantage of the low mortgage interest rates when their home equity began slowly to rise. According to Freddie Mac, 2014 will be the first purchase-dominated market since 2000. Contributing Factors As homeowners have regained equity in their existing homes, it’s given them the confidence to start looking for new properties rather than simply modifying their existing houses. This also increases the number of available homes on the market, creating more pricing competition. A steadily lowering unemployment rate, which Freddie Mac predicts will drop below 7 percent by midyear, ...
