When Considering Golf Communities, Do Your Homework

Purchasing property in a country club community can be daunting, and exasperating, experience, especially if there is an equity membership involved. There are fees that are paid at closing, and fees that are paid after closing. There are golf membership options, and there are social membership options. There are dues which apply to improved property (aka, with a home on it), and dues which apply to unimproved property. There are trail fees and green fees and annual fees. Sometimes, there is a temporary assessment in place. Oftentimes, property owners must buy a club membership of some sort. Some of these memberships run in excess of $40,000.
