I think one of the best things that has happened in the last 65 years since World War II has been the evolutionary mindset of the American policy makers towards military veterans.  In 1944 the Serviceman's Readjustment Act the Veteran's Administration (VA) was authorized to guarantee (insure) home, farm, and business loans for it's American military veterans.  Contrast this with the Bonus Army protests of 1932 and it is obvious the strides we have made. The Military Homeowners Assistance Program has been expanded to help members who have been ordered to Permanently Change Stations (PCS).  The military loves to abbreviate everything so the program is affectionately known as HAP.  I was in a class yesterday given by one of the directors at the Savannah HAP Field Office.  Here is the information he relayed to us. Mt. Pleasant (SC) Home Sales Update for August 2009   Mt. Pleasant (SC) had 73 single family detached homes sell during August with an average sales price of $418,317 and median price of $385,000. This was a 24% decrease from sales in July with a 6% increase in median price. The average number of days on market was 137 with a 94% sale to list price ratio. For every home sold, 2.12 homes were newly listed for sale. There is currently 14.97 months of home inventory; six months inventory is considered a balanced market.   Dunes West had the most sales of any Mt. Pleasant neighborhood with nine homes sold.
