Philadelphia's Buses Go HybridHave you noticed the new buses on the streets of Philadelphia and in the suburbs?  Have you noticed how quiet they are and how they have those fin like things on the top of the buses?  Well those buses with the fins on top are diesel-electric hybrids and those fins on top cover the battery power packs needed to make the buses a hybrid.  I do not ride buses much these days, I did a lot in my youth, so I only became aware of this when I happened to see the "hybrid" emblem on the side of a bus in Media. Recent track repairs on the Media trolley line means buses are doing the trolley route until the end of this year, according to Martin, the bus driver, who I spoke with at the end of the trolley line on State Street in Media.  Martin also informed me that ther...

New Life In A Wooden BoxI have the privilege of witnessing life unfold with blue birds and other birds, by being a monitor of blue bird boxes on a tract of land in Media, PA.   My camera is not the best but I wanted to share these wondrous photos with you anyway.  Blue birds are such peaceful birds with such beautiful blue feathers and I really enjoy witnessing part of their life cycle from a blue egg to a fledgling that leaves the box to follow Mom and Dad.  Once the babies hatch from their eggs it's all about eating and sleeping, just like all babies.  When I open the box at this early stage of life the babies will just perk up and they are all mouth.  Once they get a little older they know that my movements and sounds are not Mom or Dad, so they do not greet me, they stay low.  In th...

I monitor Blue Bird Houses to help keep track of Blue Birds (and other birds) in Delaware County.  Yesterday I got caught in the rain, but still enjoyed seeing what my feathered friends were up to.   And sure enough they have been busy getting ready for their first group of little ones.  I do not have a zoom lens so I was not able to get a photo of the young couple that I could hear in the trees above.  ---Gloria                                                  Doug Durren and Gloria Todor, Realtors®, CENTURY 21 Absolute RealtyServing Delaware County, Pennsylvania and Surrounding Areas 610-909-0687 Doug       610-328-4300 x131 Office484-431-3686 Gloria      http:// www.RealEstateDelawareCountyPA.comEmail GloriaTodor@Century21

Providence Woods is a neighborhood in Media, Pennsylvania, Upper Providence Township with approximately 50 single residential houses built in the early 1950's. Bowling Green is a neighborhood in Media, Nether Providence Township, Pennsylvania. All of the houses in Bowling Green are single homes with a bit of land for each property. Riding the trolley to work is a mode of transportation which some prefer if they work in Center City. SEPTA's R3 Train Line has a stop in Wallingford which is a short distance away. This neighborhood is conveniently located near Route 1 which provides easy access to major highways such as The Blue Route 476 which leads to I-95. Buying a home is one of the biggest decisions an individual can make, so it is understandable that someone considering a home purchase may take their time to avoid rushing into such a large financial commitment. However, several factors might leave prospective homebuyers who don't purchase a property now wishing they had taken action sooner. According to James M. Weichert, president and founder of Weichert, Realtors, these are three reasons why those who are not under contract to purchase a new home by April 30 might regret it: No money from Uncle Sam. First-time buyers who aren't under contract by April 30 will leave the $8,000 tax credit that is available to them on the table. Repeat buyers will miss out on the opportunity to collect up to $6,500 from the government. Interest rates mi...

Strategic default to property ownership is a real problem: This new trend has a huge domino effect that impacts all property owners. “Fed-up home owners” who simply walk away because their property values have dropped are compounding the economic situation throughout the country. Many people are affected by the choices they made in selecting a property to purchase who are honoring their commitments and making the sacrifice to hang in there or sell at a loss. And there are people who have lost their jobs, or had a decrease in their hours or hourly rates at work who may not be underwater in their property values but struggle to make their mortgage payments nevertheless. The only ‘bail-out’ to consider that would be fair and equitable to all residential property owners would be a property ...
