    The new Lowe's in Lehighton will open for business today at 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23. Store officials said the grand opening will be conducted on Sept. 29. The new store is located along Route 443 across from Carbon Plaza Mall. It was built on the site of the former Wal-Mart, which has built a new Supercenter about a half mile away, also along Route 443. This is Carbon County's first Lowe's store. Other stores are located in Hazleton, Pottsville, and Whitehall. It will create about 125 jobs. The grand opening occurs at 10 a.m. on Sept. 29 with a board-cutting ceremony.               09/23/2011

  Good news this morning when I went into see how the legislation for 20% down-payments was faring there was an update from our local real estate board that 40 Senators and 140 Representatives had written letters of concern to the governmental regulatory agencies over this potential crippling policy. I for one do not think small down-payments was the reason for the collapse of our economy. Chatting with my Wife this Memorial day weekend she described conversations with her grandmother who had fled Cuba during the Castro revolution. She described the letters she would receive from her husband and 2 sons left behind sharing the lack of freedom and the governmental control of thier life. As a young man one of my favorite story's portayed on the silver screen was " The secret Garden" where a young lady and her invalid cousin share this secret destination on a daily basis.  Well almost by accident In desperation for a spot to eat our double cheeseburger's from Burger King in Tamaqua Hilary and I turned at the Stonhedge garden sign on 309 and a minute later we were at the entrance of Stonhedge gardens a  Non-profit organization. We were amazed as we took a romantic stroll after having lunch. Our eyes were treated to an assortment of beautiful flowers, blooming trees, lily ponds, streams and waterfalls.
