I was getting ready to go to a meeting in my office one beautiful June morning, when this fellow came sauntering through my backyard. The stars were aligned just right and I was able to snap this photo from my open home office window! I used my Kodak Easy Share Z981 camera which has a 26X Optical Zoom to take the amazing shot. That magical morning reminded me as we go about our daily routine it is easy to get into a grind and forget about the wonderful things that surround us. Don't focus on what you don't have or wish you had. Stop for a moment and look around you, you will see the things that you can be truly thankful for. Whether it is your children, spouse, parents, siblings, friends, a pet, a roof over your head, food to eat, or just the fantastic world of nature that we have been...

Looks like summers last wave came through yesterday and my kids took full advantage by heading to my parent’s house and heading to Deep Creek. Deep Creek is a little off shoot of the Clackamas River and over the years the kids in family have slowly built a little shoot of water to ride our inner tubes down. My kids got to enjoy that yesterday one last time before fall and cooler weather arrive making it not only too cool to probably do this, but the water levels get pretty high during the fall and winter months as well. So goodbye summer we will miss you, but we will watch for you again next year and we will be ready to enjoy your waves of fun that come with you. By Maureen Bray Portland OR Home Stager ~ Room Solutions Staging, "Staging Consultations that Sell Portland Homes"
(Room Solutions Staging, Portland OR)
After 34 years, this 1976 ranch home just outside Portland Oregon needed updating before the sellers could put it on the market.  The process began when they contacted my company for a home staging consultation, where we walked through the entire home as well as the outside spaces.  The sellers were given an action plan showing which cosmetic improvements would provide the best return when selling -- this included painting, new cabinet hardware, replacing light fixtures, replacing old carpeting where needed, updating the kitchen countertops, removing dated window coverings, etc.  I encouraged the sellers to keep the price point of the home in mind whenever making decisions on which improvements would yield the best return.  Throughout the process (which lasted over a year) the sellers g...

Another Kodak moment on the old homestead. Seems like prime photo opportunity time always comes when I'm getting ready to walk out the door to go into the office! These bucks and a doe showed up one morning to partake in the delights of our apple orchard. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful and amazing place to call home. If you or someone you know are looking for a similar place to call "Home" feel free to contact me. I went out to my chicken coop one morning a little while back to get some eggs for our breakfast. When I opened the gate to the chicken yard something came flashing out of the coop like a bat out of hell! I had the yard netted off to keep predators out, so I knew I had a good chance of catching whatever it was. Well to my surprise a small hawk had gotten in through a hole in the netting. I chased him into a corner of the yard and was able to catch him. As I was holding him carefully I opened the door to the coop to see the damage. Unfortunately he had already dined on one of my two Rhode Island Reds and the other was no where to be found. I will spare you the gruesome details. I carried my prisoner to the back deck patio door. I knocked on the door and when my wife looked out of the gla...

Damascus originally developed on the Foster-Barlow Road, which was an extension of the Oregon Trail. Before the Foster-Barlow Road was built, the wagon trains had gone from Eagle Creek south of the Clackamas River directly to Oregon City making it the most prosperous city in the area. The Foster-Barlow Road created an easier route to Portland. After it was built, most of the wagon trains went to Portland, which had a better port and soon surpassed Oregon City as the dominant city in the area. Damascus was brought into the Urban Growth Boundary in 2002 and incorporated as a city in 2004. The City is currently working to complete its comprehensive plan. Damascus currently retains its rural atmosphere with a majority of properties having large sites to spread your wings and relax. Yet, you...

I've actually been writing this blog for over a year now, and I have to admit it has been hard. My grandfather was some what of a quiet person when it came to his past, where he came from, and what he had done. But, to me, it was important. This was my grandfather on my mom's side and he gave me lots of great memories. From my point of view he was a very complex person, but I loved him just the same. He loved to drive his speed boat fast, but he seemed to hate the water. I never once saw him get in to a lake or river. He never owned a fast car, rather he owned more Model T and Model A's that had a top speed of about 15 mph. As a kid, I thought it was so cool to ride around town in those cars, because everyone looked and waved. I really liked the one with the rumble seat in the back, I fel...
