Not everybody can do this! I believe that  this is a a valuable last step before recording, but not everyone can do this in a friendly manner. If the transaction has been strained then maybe it's not such a good idea, but at Fishhawk Lake, when representing both buyer and seller in most of my transactions, I get a sense of personalities and find that more often than not this is a great idea to pass on the baton, educate, and create a real life connection that may not have arisen before this point in the real estate sale.   I had the monumental pleasure of watching the entire eclipse out my front door in Birkenfeld Oregon!No filters were available, so experiments took place by using my viewfinder at an angle while tucked under my awning.  Occasionally, I would put my eclipse glasses on to see what phase it was in, but otherwise, it was interesting how the light played with the different choices I tried on my Canon PowerShot SX50HS, while hooked up to a monopod.  The birds and local fowl were displaying a somewhat interesting perspective. In reviewing the last 6 months of sales, listings, and interest in properties at Fishhawk Lake, it’s been a bit of a different year from 2016.FISHHAWK LAKE MARKET TRENDSNot nearly as harried or frenzy-like, this year has been somewhat balanced with a cadence of activity that has been regularly moving along like a fine-tuned engine.  I took this while walking in the woods Friday. Not sure what this tiny yellow bird is...I don't think it's a lesser goldfinch, can anyone tell me what they think it is? It was just on a trail at the end of Fishhawk Road. He was quite small and hard to capture. He flitted quickly, chirping away and paying close attention to me. He blended in pretty well with his surroundings and I only got one clear-ish shot.  This visitor is a juvenile Steller’s Jay, the first I’ve seen here On Golden Ranch. It was sitting in what I could only describe as a youngster’s position, all comfy and squatty-looking. An adult stopped by to give him a quick look, which didn’t ruffle this one’s feathers at all.               Juveniles are much grayer than their adult counterparts.               Soon, it made its way to one of my flower baskets and started nibbling at my annuals…another behavior I don’t see in adult Steller’s Jays, who go right for my substantial array of bird feeding stations, equipped with sunflower seeds, millet and the like.  This one was fascinated by my colorful budding geraniums, then picked through the dirt until it found something delectable which it soon took off with.Steller's Jays are nois... 07/23/2017

   Taking a respite from real estate doings and thought it would be good to share some animal moments at, on or near our ranch. It seems to be ongoing, these times to capture something special in the daily world of living out in the country. Treasures await at every turn.  With food scattered about for all of the critters, it's been fun through the season to see who partakes. Since living out at Fishhawk Lake, Birkenfeld OR, I have become enamoured with all of the different bird species that are prevalent in our coastal range. The other day I was walking my dogs, and heard the familiar tap-tap-tap sound near my truck. Following it up a large coniferous tree, there it was, a woodpecker! Determined to get photos, I grabbed my camera this morning,(along with bringing my Goldens for a nature hike) as I had memorized the hole that this woodpecker had been closing in on days ago.I didn’t see any birds, but heard the wee bit of chirping signifying that little ones were hungry. Yesterday while strolling through the back woods, hiking around Birkenfeld OR with my two Golden Retrievers, I happened upon some very large footprints. It was terribly exciting, because I thought I knew what they were, but didn’t have a camera with me to show proof! I decided to return today, camera-in-hand to scout the area once again and make sure that I came back with photos to prove my discovery.  I found pawprints, and a whole litany of other woodsy treasures as I looked down.
