I was saddened to learn of the loss of Vince Genna this week. He certainly contributed greatly to this community of Bend and he will be fondly remembered here, for many reasons.Though I live here now, I didn't always. Many years ago, I lived outside of Eugene. It was there that I met Vince's grand-daughter Beth. We went to school together and became the best of friends. More often than not, I was a regular at the Genna home and I was fortunate enough to attend many vacations and get togethers with their family. I remember meeting Vince on more than one occasion, though I was just a young girl at the time. I remember his smile and the love he had for his grandchildren. Seems like just yesterday but sadly it's been about 25 years ago now. No amount of time will erase the cherished memorie...

This is the follow up to the blog Buyer Deceived Because Agent Needed Commission comments are still being posted, thank you. Later that same day I bit the bullet called my Principal Broker who was tied up in meetings. I know the other Principal Broker so, I made the call, told him about the conversation, and explained how it bothered me to know this was happening. His reply - Buyer beware!I almost hung my license at that company before I interviewed where I am - boy did I make the right decision. Of course what he says to me and does about it are two different things. But he now knows. In Oregon we are all Brokers and so we carry more responsibility of our own actions than we did as Sales People or Associates. The other agents Principal Broker did not impress me when I interviewed with hi...

Yesterday I got a call from a Broker in another office and company, not an unusual thing, but the conversation was unusual. This broker has had her license longer than I, she has lived in our community for almost as long as I have, and her lack of knowledge down right scares me.She has a buyer that has an accepted offer on a lot, in a subdivision that is fairly popular. This broker has done a few transactions over the last couple years in this area and should know the zoning and area well.We all know what a RR10, FP, WA and LM are (in order they are Rural Residential, Flood Plain, Wildlife Area, Landscape Management). She has not added a due diligence contingency to the accepted offer, and each of the above are listed for zoning on the County Records for this property. Closing is a week...

BEND OREGON SCHOOL INFORMATION For most families moving to a new area, the quality of the schools is an important consideration. Having three daughters of my own, I am proud to say that Bend has EXCELLENT schools. The principals, teachers and support staff are all very vested in our children and work extremely hard to ensure that each child receives a QUALITY education. Bend is served by the Bend-LaPine School district  as well as several private schools. Please use the following links to get more information on the public, private and collegiate facilities available here.   Click here for information on the Bend-Lapine School District serving grades K-12.                                                                                 ...

WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT BEND, OREGON?        Why is Bend being recognized across the United States as one of the best places to live? I hope I can enlighten you all to the beauty of this gem that is also my home.  Recreationally, Bend and the surrounding areas have so much to offer.  Surrounded by mountains, Bend is located in Deschutes County in the High Desert of Central Oregon. The terrain is mostly desert with thousands of acres of protected USFS lands closeby. This provides for excellent HUNTING and FISHING. Deer, elk, antelope and turkey hunting are popular here and bring in many hunters from all over the U.S. The many local lakes offer an abundance of BOATING, FISHING, and WATER-SKIING opportunities. Media reports that the proverbial real estate "bubble" has burst is now an Urban Legend! The reality is what has been happening is housing prices are returning to some semblance of price"normalizing" resulting in a softening in home prices.  But this is a good thing, right?  Instead of the market being driven by Sellers in recent years, now it's the Buyer's turn to reap the rewards of a glut in listings...plus, riding on top of still single digit mortgage interest rates!  In some prime market areas (such as Bend, Oregon) we expect to see prices start rising again as Winter ebbs and Spring brings early tourists for late season snow skiing at Mt. Bachelor and Hoodo ski resorts, and fly fishermen start hitting the mountain lakes and lower rivers... and then there's the golfers hitting the l...

How many of our clients have pets?  I know a lot of mine are huge dog lovers, and with all the outdoor activities available in Central Oregon it is paradise for the pet and pet owner alike.  As Realtors do we provide pet information to our buyers?  Last night at around 10 p.m. our 12 week old black lab puppy Max got very sick.  Having lived here most of my life you would think I would know what services were available, but I didn't.  I called the vet that Max was scheduled to see for his shots and of course got voice mail.  The voice mail directed me to call Animal Emergency Center for after hours care, and I did.  The receptionist was very nice and we thought Max had some sort of blockage, most likely due to swallowing a rock.  Labs are notorious for playing with rocks, pine-cones and ...

Not to mention the fantastic snowmobiling, downhill and cross country skiing available at the famed Mt. Bachelor. It would seem that a short drive in any direction leads you on a new adventure.
