  I have a little trailer that is kind of a glorified tent on wheels. It has a table, icebox, bed, and stove. It is shorter than my truck, both in legnth and hight. I love the thing because it makes camping so easy. I spent last night on the banks of Howard Prairie Lake. It is 30 minutes from my house in Ashland. You can fish, ski, swim, etc... A client of mine owns the resort. He is an excellent and friendly guy named Joel. If you get a chance to camp up here, tell Joel hi from the Agent In A Kilt. Who knows, there might be a free soft serve Ice Cream in it for you. Back to the campfire now. P.S. Living in this beautiful area of Southern Oregon, surrounded by forests, rivers, lava flows, caves and lakes, our biggest challenge is to figure out which wonderful terrain we want to go see when there is so much gorgeous scenery to see.          One of our most favorite destinations is Howard Prairie Lake. This mountain lake experiences some wonderful breezes, making it not only the lake of choice for boaters looking to fish, ski or cruise (like we do), but it is ideal for the sailboats, too.     This is our third year keeping our boat at Howard Prairie Lake during boating season. My family and I often times head up to the boat after work from Ashland, or on the weekends from our home in Medford. Only 30-45 minutes and we feel like we are in a whole new world. Today was Opening Day for Trout Fishing on three Southern Oregon Lakes, Diamond Lake, Hyatt Lake and Howard Prairie Lake. And a BEAUTIFUL day it was! Diamond Lake and Hyatt Lakes were both still covered in ice, so anglers were going to be drilling holes in the ice to enjoy opening day on those lakes. Although they were just battling snow last week, anglers found gorgeous Spring conditions at Howard Prairie Lake today. New owner Joel LeGrande spent most of last week breaking ice still on the lake, so Southern Oregon Anglers could enjoy this annual tradition. Today, Joel described the bubbles that formed under the ice due to warming temperatures having popped, resulting in a sudden dropping of the ice on the lake. Run by the YMCA for many years, now being operated by Table Rock Fellowship (TRF), Camp Apserkaha is a sixty-six acre camp located on the southern shore of Howard Prairie Lake. Amenities at Camp Apserkaha include a dining shelter, commercial kitchen, twelve cabins, and almost a half-mile of lake frontage.  Just steps away from the Pacific Crest Trail, this camp lies in a beautiful setting in the Southern Oregon woods with incredible views of Mt. McLoughlin.   Camp Apserkaha is available for day use as well as overnight camps, and is being used by several Southern Oregon groups such as YMCA, 4-H, Future Farmers of America, Jackson County Youth Authority, and TRF's Youth Programs.          Camp Apserkahahas seen quite the face lift since TRF took over January 2007.
