Just talked with a real estate agent who covers the Innisfil area about the growth of the for sale by owner listings.  It seems that if you do the "I hear nothing, see nothing" approach then yes, the fsbo market would not even look like competition to the mls.  Many agents view people who list on for sale by owner sites as "mis-informed" on how to sell. That fsbo's really do not understand how to sell, or how to establish a market price or qualify a potential buyer. And that is my point, old school agents ( people who view fsbo's as a non-entity when compared to the real professionally trained agents) really do not understand the biggest change to the real estate market since the introduction of the internet.
