Finally...The Go Train is coming to Barrie. No more delays and no more blah blah blah. The extension of the Go Train will be ready at the end of 2007 (hopefully). The Go Train may have an important impact on the prices and demand of real estate properties in the Barrie area. The Go Train is also good news for the local business community; it will help Barrie to attract more business, tourists and people looking for affordable housing. It will also benefit Barrie residents that work in the Toronto area and will take the pressure off the 400. Viva! Yahooo! Hurra!   :)See more at www.barrieproperties.com

Barrie residents can plan to ride the trains next year (2007). The new station will be built at Yonge St and Mapleview Drive. The cost of the project will be split evenly between Barrie and the Provincial and Federal Governments.  The extension of the Go Train may have an important impact on the prices and demand of real estate properties in the Barrie area. The Go Train is also good news for the local business community; it will help Barrie to attract more business, tourists and people looking for affordable housing. It will also benefit Barrie residents that work in the Toronto area and will take the pressure off the 400. Overall, Go Train runs 181 train trips carrying approximately 160,000 passengers each weekday. The construction of the GO Train service from Toronto to Barrie is exp...

Considering Finishing That Basement? (2007)   There are mixed opinions out there, as to whether or not someone is wise to finish a basement area prior to listing a home. Here are recent facts (based on my geograhical area).   Unless you are construction savvy (in which case you will cut costs down by using your own labor), you will need to hire a contractor.  Depending on the extent of work need to finish your basement, you are looking at spending an average of $15,000.   The question you are asking yourself is “will I get more for my house if I get the basement finished”?   Well, if you take into consideration the ‘cost’ to have the work done, against the extra price that your home may sell for, then the answer to that question may well be 'no'!   Consider this: The average selling pri...

Having recently been asked to write an article (for a local newspaper in Barrie) regarding Condo Living, I investigated the Barrie statistics, which revealed some very interesting facts. While traditional residential homes have taken a 10.4% drop in sales with a modest 5.3% increase in property value, Condo sales remain steady with an 11.4% increase in value. So who are choosing to live the Condo life-style? There are three main ‘groups’ that make up the majority of today’s Condo residents. ‘Baby-Boomers’ who wish to downsize from two-storey homes to one-storey homes are realizing the high costs of bungalows and the continued maintenance involved. Professionals who regard Condo living as ‘trendy’ and utilize the fact that there is perhaps a pool, gym, and great views at their fingertips...
