City of Tulsa - Free Landfill Days This Weekend and November Pollutant Collection City of Tulsa - Free Landfill Days The City of Tulsa will host its semi-annual Free Landfill Days event on Saturday, October 27, and Sunday, October 28, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Quarry Landfill located on 46th Street North approximately 1-1/2 miles east of U.S. 169. This event provides an opportunity for City of Tulsa utility customers to dispose of unwanted items, with the exception of objects containing Freon refrigerant, such as air conditioners and refrigerators. First-time Tulsa homeowners will soon be moving to new rehabilitated homes in the Tulsa, OK area. The mayor recently announced the three lucky first-time homeowners who will get new homes through the City’s Rehabilitation Program; a program that is partnered with the Tulsa Development Authority and Wells Fargo Bank. Wells Fargo foreclosed on a few properties in Tulsa earlier this year in hopes to help rehabilitate them and increase property values in the surrounding neighborhoods. Three of those homes were chosen by the Tulsa Development Authority and Wells Fargo to be part of the program. Tulsa area foreclosures continue to decline month after month. Since July, repossessions in the Tulsa area are becoming less common, continuing a general downward trend. According to RealtyTrac, there were 572 foreclosures recorded in the Tula metro area last month. The foreclosure rate now results in one for every 716 homes, which is 3.5% below June and 28.8% below July 2011. When compared to the state of Oklahoma’s foreclosure rate, Tulsa is still much lower. There were 1,369 foreclosures throughout the state of Oklahoma, which is an increase of 5.8% for the month; however, that is down 32% for the year compare to one year ago. Designed to help families purchase back-to-school clothes and shoes, this is the sixth year Oklahoma has participated in this endeavor.
