  When is that magical moment when you decide to hang up the keys, turn off the phone, sit back and watch the rest of the world go by.  Is it a moment?...or does it happen gradually.  How does one just let go of a passion.  I've been told that I'll know when it's time.When it's time, this is what I hope I'll be doing more of.  I just happened to catch these "Seniors" enjoying some time at the Jackson St. Pier on Lake Erie in downtown Sandusky, OH.  They were unconcerned with what was going on around them and seemed to be just enjoying the moment.  I don't know if they caught anything, but that's not what seemed important anyway.  Hoping someday that I'll be doing a different kind of fishing.  11/04/2016

    Is Selling Real Estate an Aerobic Sport?   Here we are, in the middle of the Winter Olympics and I’m thinking….is there some kind of parallel between Selling Real Estate and an Aerobic Sport? I have been working with a client that just can't seem to find her "connection" with a house. After several weeks of searching, I received this email.....Dear Mary, I don't think I want to see any more houses because I'm just tired of being disappointed.....Oh dear, she's hit the wall.                                                              The next day, two new listings came on the market that fit her criteria, so I sent them to her.  "Let's just go look and maybe have a talk, and see where it takes us." We went to look, and...Found THE House.  As we were leaving she said to me, "Do they call you the Fairy Housemother?, because you never gave up on me even when I gave up on myself." Finally……                                                 I can almost hear the drum beats now.                                           After sitting empty for several years, Maui Sands is ready for a new beginning.   The Hawaiian themed motel will have a soft opening this summer with 136 luxury rooms available just in time for the CedarPointAmusement Park season.   Although the water park section will not yet be up and running, a Grand Opening scheduled for 2013 promises to include even more amenities and the reopening of the onsite water park.   The new owner, Kiritsinh “Kirit” Parmar, president of MKSP, LLC of Maryland, promises competitive rates, a great location and great service.   He says he thinks “it will be one of the best values you can find”.   Welcome Back Maui Sands.  Th... 02/29/2012

Firefighter Combat Challenge                                 Often called the “Toughest Two Minutes in Sports”, Sandusky Fire Department is hosting the Midwest Regional competition of the Firefighter Combat Challenge at Cedar Point’s Soak City next weekend.   There are individual and team competitions and it’s open to the public.  A $10 fee gets you into the parking lot and the event.  Sandusky Fire Department has three teams and nine individual competing.   The individual competition has several categories for various ages including a female division.   The individual event combines a number of challenges to be done.                         Jackson Street Pier is a Landmark stopping place along the Sandusky Bay Pathway. It is located in Historic Downtown Sandusky in the newly developed Paper District. The Goodtime I and the Pelee Islander are both docked at the west end of the Jackson Street Pier, and the Jet Express Ferry is docked on the east side. Cedar Point HalloWeekends                                                      The unsuspecting should beware….It’s that time of year again, when ghosts and ghouls will roam the Midway and special events at Cedar Point.  This is the fifteenth year in a row that Cedar Point has transformed the Amusement Park into a gallery of haunted amusements and fright zones. So We Thought We Could Dance Oatmeal, coffee and The Sandusky Register give me the jump-start to my day.  Wednesdays the Register  includes a community events supplement, the Funcoast. On Thursday mornings, my boyfriend and I make weekend plans based on our discoveries in Funcoast’s weekly calendar of events. The notice for a free dance lesson followed by a dance party on Friday night at a new dance studio in Sandusky caught my eye and we agreed to check it out this week.   We see ourselves as decent dancers even though we haven’t had formal training other than a social dance class we each took in college.                                           Last week John Henderson made some waves.  He made some big ones.  John is a regular for lunch at Burger King on Perkins Ave. in Sandusky. He, along with others have noticed that the large 30x60 foot American Flag that flies out front was in a terrible state of disrepair.  He and others had complained and asked that it be taken down and retired properly and replaced with another. When week after week, no action had been taken, John took matters into his own hands. He walked out front, took the flag down and took it to the VFW post 2529 to retire it properly.  Later that day,a Burger King employee stopped by to take the flag back.                                      The Harlequin Theater in Sandusky, OH is pleased to present:  The Guys as written by Anne Nelson.       The Harlequin Theater is the oldest continuously running community theater in the state of Ohio.  They produce three to four shows each year between November and May.  Their location, at 414 Wayne Street provides a 97 seat space that allows for an experience in intimate live theater.        Twelve days after the attacks on the World Trade Centers, Anne Nelson was asked by a New York fire captain to help him write eulogies for eight of his men that were lost in the Sept. 11 tragedy.  The play was based on this real life experience about the aftereffects of the collapse of the TwinTowers.  In the play, the Captain, overwhelmed and struggling, enlists... 09/07/2011

Maggie Marconi will once again lead us into the past…..150 years past, to the Civil War Era on this year’s Cemetery Walk at Oakland Cemetery in Perkins Twp.                                                        OaklandCemetery is the largest cemetery in ErieCounty.  The first burial took place on May 1,1850., and Moors Farwell, Sandusky’s first mayor was buried here December 15, 1880.  OaklandCemetery has been the official burial ground for almost all of the pioneer residents and those involved with Sandusky’s history. DON’T DELAY, GET YOUR BID IN TODAY                                                                                      An Era is ending at Cedar Point.  The Paddlewheel Excursion ride will take it’s last ride shortly after 8 PM on Monday, Sept. 5.  The ride is being shut down to make space for the new Animatronic Dinosaur Show slated to open next year.   So many memories of lazing down the river with the Banjo Man and the Old Brown Jug Man and the feuding Hatfield’s and McCoy’s.  It was always an entertaining ride made more enjoyable by the narrations of the boat’s captain.   To make the last ride more special, departing CEO, Dick Kinzel will captain one of  the two boats as it makes it’s last trip.  Don’t worry, he’ll have a real captain along to help him steer.   The Fireland’s Chapt... 09/01/2011

                                                                            Officer Andy Dunn was just 30 years old when he was fatally shot by a convicted felon.  It happened just outside Fireland's Regional Medical Center in the wee hours of Saturday, March 19, 2011.  He was a Husband, Father, Son and a proud member of the Sandusky, OH police force.   He was doing his job when he attempted to stop a bicycle operating without lights at 3AM.  The Sandusky Register reports:   Officer Andy Dunn, 30, tried to stop Kevin Randleman, 50, who was on his bike outside Firelands Regional Medial Center at 3 a.m. Saturday.
