For the past few years our Pickerington school district has had to continue to make budget cuts even with the operating levys that have been passed in the past few years.  With the defeat of last November's levy, this month will show the most dramatic cuts that we have ever seen.  The Schools have to make up for an estimated $13 Million dollar shortfall and look at cutting about 100 employees/teachers and a chunk of the music and arts programs. Looks like no New Spending for Pickerington OH in 2011.  Our new city manager has seemed to have started out well this year.  After starting only about six months ago, Bill Vance has had his first budget approved and it's balanced, does not cut city services, and also provides for paying down the cities debt from it's current $37 million to $33 million by years end.  Not a bad start.  Thanks Bill.  I do appreciate it, because I don't see any new revenue on the horizon for Pickerington and know that property tax revenue is still likely to shrink.  Pickerington's housing market has had its fair share of foreclosures and short sales that continue to put downward pressure on housing prices.  Coupled with home owners challenging the auditors assessed value and lowering their property taxes (... 01/06/2011

While we had our ups and downs again this year, Pickerington Ohio has shown its self to be relatively stable in terms of home sales price and inventory for as compared to last year. The number of homes for sale this year began well under the number offered for sale the year before but then rose in the last half of the year to match 2009 numbers.
