The Rockville Centre NY Mayor's Annual Golf and Tennis Classic and Dinner will be held on Monday September 26th at the Seawane Country Club in Hewlett Harbor, NY.  This year the Classic will honor former Village Judge, the Hon. Robert Williams. The Rockville Centre Department of Public Works curbside tree planting program has moved to the fall.  Residents have until September 30th to order either a Pin Oak, Crimson King Norway Maple, Japanese Lilac, Little Leaf Linden or a Kwanzan Oriental Cherry. Trees are $200 each and for an extra $100 a village contractor will plant the tree for you and that includes a one year guarantee if the tree dies.  Planting date is Fall of 2011. Rockville Centre NY will be hosting the annual firework celebration on Saturday, July 9th. at Centennial Park in Mill River on the South Side of Rockville Centre between Park Ave. and Village Ave.  It is also the Village's 118th Birthday. At 7:30 p.m. The South Shore Symphony will have a concert of summertime favorites and then around 9 p.m there will be a Grucci fireworks display over Mill River.  This is a wonderful family experience.  Just a small reminder to bring a lawn chair and blanket. The Garden Gate Revisited in Rockville Centre NY is an amazing Gift Shop.  This business has been a fixture in Rockville Centre for twenty-five years.  The hours of operation are Monday to Friday 9:30 to 6:30 and Saturdays from 10 to 5 and Sunday noon to 4. I like living in Rockville Centre NY.  No I mean I really like living in Rockville Centre NY.  I like the block I live on, I like my house.  I like that I am about eleven blocks from work.  I like the Village.  It's family friendly.  I like that they do not roll up the sidewalks at 9 p.m. I like the great Zagat rated restaurants and really cool little shops.  I like that I bump into the Mayor at the supermarket and she has sneakers on.  I actually like that the mayor happens to be a she.  I guess by now you are starting to figure out that I like where I have been planted.  I didn't start out here but I intend to end here.  Home is where your heart is and my heart is here. Molloy College in Rockville Centre NY will open it's first residence hall this Fall.  The new residence hall will provide Molloy with the ability to attract students from other parts of the Country who were unable to attend when it was strictly a commuter school.  Although the students will be living on campus, the aim of the school is to integrate them into the community as much as possible. There is a new take out placed in Rockville Centre NY that I have been hearing a lot of good stuff about lately.  I had the opportunity today to stop by.  I was out and about in Rockville Centre and it was getting close to dinner time. The Farm House Kitchen at 171 Maple Avenue in Rockville Centre NY is just a great place to stop and pick up dinner.  Everything is made on premise, just like you would do at home.  They have a very basic comfort food menu and they run specials every day.  We picked up Meatloaf with onion gravy, mashed potatoes and vegetables.  It was magnificent.  I have heard marvelous things about the Pot Roast and so maybe next time. Prime Catch is a new restaurant that openedin Rockville Centre NY this year.  It is located at 41 South Park Avenue on the corner of Lenox Road and South Park Avenue.  The restaurant is open seven days a week and lunch starts at 11 a.m..  Dinner and a Late Night Menu is also available. The Rockville Centre League for Mercy Medical Center is a charitable organization that raises money for Mercy Medical Center.  The board and members are residents of Rockville Centre and neighboring communities.  Each year the proceeds of their different fund raisers are ear marked for needed improvements and projects at the hospital Next month on May 5th they are having a Cinco De Mayo Spring Dinner Fiesta.  This event is attended by up to 300 people who help raise money for the hospital.  The event will be held at the Ocean Club in Atlantic Beach and the cost of a dinner is $60. 04/13/2011

The Monte Carlo Night for the Sandel Senior Center in Rockville Centre NY is April 30th.   FOSSI stand for Friends of Senior Services Inc, a not for profit community group that raises funds to support the Rockville Centre Department of Senior Services. The annual event transforms the Sandel Center into a glittering casino complete with professional dealers, wheel spinners and croupiers.  The event begins at 7:30 pm on Saturday, April 30 and tickets cost $50 per person.  It's the major fund raiser for this center which provides wonderful classes and services for the Senior Citizens of Rockville Centre. 04/07/2011

There is a great new restaurant that opened this last year in Rockville Centre.  Press 195 has been voted one of the ten best affordable eateries that opened this last year on Long Island.  I was hoping to copy a menu for you but you can Google Press 195 Rockville Centre and check the menu.  Besides having the most incredible food, they also deliver.  Lord how I love the good places that deliver.  I can highly recommend the stuffed knishes.  The most delicious is the knish stuffed with a Ruben.  My next favorite is the knish stuffed with meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy.  Clog up my arteries and take me home to my Savior.  Beyond good.
