Last fall I came across this scene and quickly pulled over to capture it.  It seemed so peaceful and the perfect spot to be alone with your thoughts or even a chance to really meditate.  There is just something about water, it does attract us. Poet's Walk  Park On River Road In Red Hook NY is Just the Place Poet's Walk Park is just the place to take a break.  Now that it looks like the cold and snow is behind us, our attention is turning to outdoor activities. Poet's Walk is located on River Road in Red Hook in an area that is designated a National Historic District.   The park consists of 120 beautiful acres and is operated by Scenic Hudson, an organization whose mission is land preservation.  They operate numerous parks along the Hudson River for the benefit of the public. Last Chance to Visit the Red Hook Winter Market at the Elmendorph I really hate to see the Red Hook winter market come to an end.  But it was a terrific season!  For the last few months I have reminded everyone about the event and  I watched the attendance increased month over month.  It was also a pleasure sharing pictures of each event especially since the displays were nicely done. Real Estate Market Report February 2010 for Red Hook NY I am often asked: Is anything selling?  I use the monthly market reports to answer this question.  So what did the real estate market look like in February in Red Hook NY? Of the 12 properties that came on the market during the month, the lowest price was $59,000 a bank owned house needing work. There were 2 properties over a million dollar each. For the month 4 properties sold 3 were under  $200,000 and 1 for $274,500.  What was worth noting was; of the 4 transactions  3 of the 4 were bank owned properties. Taking a look at the pending it looks like in March the price range for sold transaction will be higher and none of the properties so far are bank owned. The Red Hook Winter Market will be held tomorrow February 13th at the historic Elmendorph Inn.  If you have not had an opportunity to attend the previous events I think a visual tour might just do the trick.    Need wool or some very colorful yarns? Then you are in the right spot. It is a new year but many are still suffering from the economic downturn, and even our Red Hook community has not escaped this situation.  Over the last year, we have seen are heard of many food pantries going empty.  This has left many without the basic necessities. Last year The Town of Red Hook Seniors services committee held a successful Food Drive to which you contributed generously, however a need still exist.  With that in mind 2 events are scheduled this month. A new listing came on the market yesterday on Pitcher Lane in Red Hook, NY.  A classic 1850 farmhouse and I immediately sent the information out to a client looking for a property in that period.  Today the agent held the open house and I made sure to attend.  When I am out and about doing my real estate activities I also take a bit of time to look at things around and many times these items turn into a photo subject. This is the last report for 2009 and what a year it was.  The December market report for Red Hook NY showed 8 sales during the month; 6 in the town and 2 in the village.  Most of the activity was in the lower price range just like in the rest of Dutchess County. As of today there are 62  active listing, most of which were carried forward from 2009.  If your home is on the market or you are thinking of listing your home it is important that it is priced correctly. This is a small lake in Upper Red Hook in New York.  Along the banks can be found vacation homes and during the summer you will see people out on the lake in row boats. The first snowfall was such a pleasure, and I managed to enjoy it at different stages. First I watched it fall and then I took pictures when it got dark.  This morning was exciting. I was just expecting to take more pictures and then I saw the moon, but, there was more. Next, came sunrise and I watched the effect of the sunlight on the snow. Today was a bit cold, so on a day like this I love to look at something colorful.  I chose Peonies. Two years ago when my daughter was getting married the peony was one of the flower she wanted, now I can't even remember what flowers she actually used; I suppose I will have to pull out the albums.   Wordless Wednesday is a reminder to me to post a photo but I find it impossible to be completeley wordless so forgive me.
