There is an article in today's NY Times asking the old question of whether using a broker is right for some home sellers. The piece invited comments, and I shared my thoughts. I'll adapt them for this post.  I am a broker who does business in Nyack, where the first two homes in the report are located. Ms Corvino's issue (she has elected to sell her own home after 230 days with a broker) is not whether or not she has an agent; it is the fact that the home is overpriced, and not by a little. MLS records indicate that she bought the home in late August of 2005, literally the apex of the market bubble, for $810,000. MLS records also have her giving herself almost 10% appreciation in her 2008 attempt to sell when she listed it for $892,000, and at some point she lowered to (hold onto your ha...

MONROE - State troopers pulled over two men on Monday night in West Nyack, finding 30 pounds of marijuana. That arrest led troopers to homes in Monroe and Blooming Grove, where authorities uncovered growing operations. On Monday afternoon, Haverstraw troopers conducted a traffic stop, and arrested John G. Koukouras, 31, of Monroe, and Steve Baez, 36, of West Palm Beach, Fla. with about 30 pounds of marijuana. At the Blooming Grove home, Brian Cruz, 24, of Salisbury Mills, was found in possession of at least 60 marijuana plants, troopers say. The three men were all charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony. At the Monroe home, Elisio Hernandez, 57, was found with 60 marijuana plants. A loaded handgun was also found inside the residence. He was charged with first...

Organizers bill Nyack's Halloween Parade as the biggest Halloween parade in the northeast outside of New York City's parade in Greenwich Village. Certainly, throngs of people line the street, many in costumes themselves, to watch a collection of ghosties, goblins, witches and other strange characters parade through the center of this quaint village. The parade is held every year, the Saturday immediately preceding Oct 31. Preparations for the big event kick off weeks in advance. Each year, kids from local schools paint shop windows with spooky pictures. This year, agents at Keller Williams built a float -- a huge haunted house, in the shape of a classic village Victorian. We had a blast planning it, building it, and painting it! Here is the Keller Williams crew on one of the many days w...

The parade is this Sunday October, 26th you can get more information on the parade at the following link.
