I saw this cute little gadget today - yes Al and Peggy gadget girl is back!  I am constantly trying to prop up my smart phone so I can look at it while I am working on the computer etc... Unfortunately with the Droid it is extremely slippery (unless you have the rubber cover which I have exchanged for a snazzy plastic one!) and it is unbelievably hard to prop up anywhere which is very frustrating when I am trying to multitask.  Today I saw something called the iStand which will solve that problem and it is a neat looking little thing.  It looks kind of like a pawn (if you are familiar with Chess) and attaches by suction to the back of your smart phone or iPod.  It will prop them up for you so you don't have to worry about them slipping down or falling while you are trying to look at the...

The flowers are just about gone now if not totally.  I am going to miss the green and the flowers!  This is a picture from a couple weeks back when everything was still green and flowering.  We have had a frost just about every night this week so winter is definitely on the way.   Hurry back spring!!           Photos by Debra Walsh, Copyright © 2010 Debra Walsh. This Month in Real EstateOctober 2010 ............................................................................................................................................... Market Update The housing market continues its slow recovery without the aid of the now expired tax credit. Sales are slower but growing, and prices remain on par with last year's levels. Interest rates also hit a new historic low, a major factor in helping  keep mortgage payments low, which is expected to spur sales. The economy shone a bit brighter in September. It grew faster during the second quarter than expected, and companies continued to hire. Experts believe there is now less risk of a double-dip recession. Now, the Federal Reserve Board's challenge is not if the economy will grow but how fast. Exp...

Everyone knows how much I love animals.  I came across this hilarious clip of dogs and their owners that had me laughing pretty hard and I thought others would enjoy it.   Luckily none of these things has ever happened to me and hopefully never will! You may need to turn the sound down if you are not a fan of hard music. :-)   Enjoy!

I was getting ready for work the other day and my little dog Frankie was ready to go out so we headed out to the back of my house and the sun was just coming up.  I have never really taken a picture of the sun itself and William Johnson has told me several times to just go for it.  I ran back inside and grabbed my camera and snapped off several shots and liked this one the best.  Even with the sun up it was still quite dark out as you can see.  It was around 6:30 or so in the morning.  I haven't tried to play with the picture to lighten it up yet but I might try to with the programs he has recommended to me and see if it looks any better.  If I do I will post it with the new results.  Enjoy!                      Photos by Debra Walsh, Copyright © 2010 Debra Walsh. Children need a clean environment, clean indoor air, safe food and drinking water in order to grow healthily. They may be more vulnerable than adults to some environmental risks because: -Children are 30% of the world’s population -Children’s nervous, immune, digestive and other systems are still developing. -Children eat more food, drink more fluids and breath more air than adults. -Children’s behavior such as crawling and placing items in their mouths may result in greater exposure.                    What to look for within your home: Indoor Air Quality Allergens, irritants, animal dander, cockroaches, mold and dust mites. You can test for much of this. Outdoor Air Quality Ground level Ozone, SO (Sulfur), NOx (Nitrogen reactive gases from industrial burning) and Toxic gases. Lead Ri...

For all of us who have been getting the heavy rainstorms these past few weeks the power has been going off and on more now than in the past year.  If your power goes out are you prepared?  Would you know what to do? If there is a power outage the first thing you want to do is make sure it is more than just your home.  If you can't tell by looking out the window then check with your neighbors.  If they have power then maybe it is something simple like a tripped breaker. Once you have determined that there is definitely a power outage you should: Have flashlights and candles with matches available for when it is too dark to see Be extremely careful with the burning candles so a fire does not occur Keep freezer and refrigerator doors closed at all times if possible to prevent food spoilage...

Two weeks ago my husband decided there was a tree in our yard that needed to come down because it was dying and could possibly fall on our garage or cars.  I never would have guessed they would have tried to bring it down themselves so the video I got was fleeting from my flip camera.  I didn't know where the big video camera was and I don't think it was charged anyway.  It is also my first foray into doing a video with the flip and then sending it to YouTube.  Very simple I might add, I love the flip camera! I was going to put it to music to make it funny but the sound of the tree is so unbelievably loud I didn't want to remove it from the video. They did a great job and the tree fell exactly where it was supposed to.  The bulk of it has since been cut up and is almost gone or piled on...

This is a picture of my niece from a day when we were stacking wood for the winter.  She is wearing her uncle's gloves and was a huge help!  You can see our little baby of the family in there too looking up at her.        Photos by Debra Walsh, Copyright © 2010 Debra Walsh. What pictures and thoughts come to mind when you hear “the wheel of life” or “spinning wheel”?  Are you thinking about how the world is always turning as we move through it?  Or are you thinking more like a coach and picturing the different parts of your life that should balance together to make up the whole?  Or …is the image that comes to mind the little wheel found in a hamster’s cage and you’re in it running non stop! Do you ever feel as though you’re stuck on the treadmill of day-to-day life, just going through the motions?  Your success is directly proportional to the degree you’re growing and learning, yet you may find yourself so caught up in the mundane tasks of living that you neglect your personal growth and the growth of your business. By consciously deciding to take small s...

In recent information released by the U.S. Census Bureau for owner occupied housing, the highest property taxes are paid in counties in New York State with New York State ranking number 4 as the highest property taxes in the country.  Of the top 10 counties in terms of median real estate taxes paid for 2009 throughout the country 3 were from New York State: 1 Westchester County 2 Nassau County 5 Rockland County New York came in at #4 out of the top 10 behind: New Jersey Connecticut New Hampshire with Rhode Island rounding out the top 5 for the highest in property taxes in the country.  I was shocked at the states order on the list as I thought California would be up near the top but they were ranked at number 10. For the past 6 years John and his co-owners have owned the Philadelphia Souls football team.  In the first clip they were the champions in 2008.  John and the team participate continually in Habitat for Humanity and do great things for the city of Philadelphia.  John and his band mates participate all over the country in these type of programs, a lot of it being in New Orleans since hurricane Katrina.  Most people see John as a rocker and entertainer (some not even that) but in the next video you will see what a great Humanitarian he is and how aware he is of the changing economy and the problems with our country today.  Most of you will see why I admire him so.  Maybe you will feel the same after watching.  I have also stuck in some music for after.  Enjoy!

Having had my Droid 2 now for a few weeks I am very happy with it.  The only thing I don't like is the pad of my fingers are a little too big for the touch screen keys and it makes texting a pain in the you know what.  I have to keep going back to fix words which makes my already bad texting even more frustrating.  So the other night I am with a friend and I am trying to return a business text, getting frustrated with my humongous fingers as usual and she says "You have to get one of those phones with the verbal texting."  So I laugh and say yes that would be wonderful! The next morning something suddenly occurs to me and I pull my phone out and look at the screen for an outgoing text message and THERE IT IS!  The keyboard AND a little microphone!  So I press the microphone and try it o...

This is a dance group named Diversity that appeared on Britain's Got Talent and danced a great routine.  They then went on to become the 2009 winners of Britain's Got Talent. I haven't seen anything from them since but maybe we will see them in the coming year in America on one of Simon Cowell's shows.  Enjoy the video!  I thought they were so in sync for such a large group.
