I often see homes with special signs besides the address, that calls out a "name" for the home. Some are personal or may refer to something special about the property, like "FOX HILL"(a home on a hill where a fox is often spotted) or  "Hill Top"(also a home that sits on a hill). There are also historic or period homes with creative names that refer to them. For instance a very decorated 1888 Victorian in Sea Cliff, NY, is called "The Greatest Painted Lady".                                                                                               Giving your home a "name" could be a positive way for others to recall your home or a means to point it out to someone. Of course, homes have names like, "The Colonial" "The Split", The Ranch" etc... but giving it an original name sets it ap...

As a Buyer when you tell your agent what you want, is it a blurry vision, too colorful, or picture perfect? In today's age of technology, so much of what we see and hear is filtered. Texts can be misleading and misunderstood, visuals can be filtered and changed, distractions can cause confusion. Its important to make sure communication is clear, take time to articulate to the specifics of what you want, and ask questions to clarify you are both on the same page. Below are 3 picture of buckets, and see how different they can be.  Taking the time to be clear as to what you really want, we can target the specifics and that's "a drop in the bucket" to finding the perfect home and closing the deal.         If your looking for a Realtor with good listening skills and an eye for detail, call E...

Throwback Thursday and it's time to bring back my "Whale Tales". Each "Whale Tale" features a different scene involving a Realtor related situation as it relates to a childhood Fairy Tale. The tale is contemporized with a spin on the Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty Agent and how He/She reacts to a scene in the Fairy Tale or should I say "Whale Tale!" Whale Tale #2, stresses the importance of getting a Engineers Inspection, and who else but the Daniel Gale Sotheby's Agent, knows the best engineers to reccomend. If the first 2 pigs had a good inspection on their homes, the wolf could have never blown it down. The 3rd Pig did have an Inspection and it pays!   Ellen CarusoLicensed Salesperson / CBR Silver Circle Of ExcellenceDaniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty240 Glen Head...

While traveling up north in Italy this past September, my husband was shopping for an old Italian car to import to America. We met with a man and saw a few of his collectible cars. We decided on one that will be shipped here in the near future. For me, better than the car, was when we went to lunch at this charming restaurant.  Outdoor seating had this colorful umbrella canape. All the cups and plates were mismatched in a eclectic way as were the seats, lighting, etc.... despite how this sounds, it really worked! It was artistic and the food was equally as good! We have rain in NY today, and as much as I'd hate to have an umbrella outside today, looking at these SUNBRELLA'S make me happy!    As your Realtor, I'll bring the Sunshine into your day!   Ellen CarusoLicensed Salesperson / C...

Last September my husband, son and I went to Italy. We flew directly into Palermo, Sicily, and after a quick hello to family, we were heading up to Milano for a Formula One race (car lovers, that could be another blog). We took a ferry, that transported us and our car up north, that was 20 hours on water, and I got very sea sick. I was glad to be on sold ground, and once we learned The Word Fair Expo was being hosted in Milano, I knew we were destine to go.   The theme of the 2015 World EXPO was "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life." The EXPO aimed to educate awareness and participation in the availability of food that is healthy, safe and sufficient; and for the environment, economic and social sustainability of the food chain, while preserving taste and food culture. The exposition...

ACTIVE RAIN MEET UP ON LONG ISLAND'S NORTH SHORE - AT LAST!   Good times in Glen Head. Ellen Caruso and I have been trying to meet up since late last year. We're really only half an hour apart but, with one thing or the other constantly coming up in our schedules, our introduction always got pushed to the side. At last, today, I found myself in Ellen's neck of the woods and, with little advance notice, I called. As luck would have it, she was available to meet up at the local Starbucks. Such fun to finally meet someone you've been corresponding with for over a year. She looks just like her picture with gorgeous green eyes and a big, engaging smile. We were so engrossed in conversation, we never even got around to getting a cup of coffee. I look forward to getting together again in the n...
